New demo released for The Legend of Syro

LegendOfSyroLogo2

It’s been a little while since the last Legend of Syro demo was released, but Chaoswizard98 has been working hard to create something amazing!

There’s a very long list of improvements and new features, but here are some of the big ones:

  • Fully working save system
  • Church and advisor menus
  • New cave map
  • New below ship map
  • Darkness in battles (this is really cool!)
  • New (secret) cutscenes
  • Weapons display in battle
  • Chests can be looted in battle
  • New items to collect

Enough talking, go play it!

News and updates about the project are posted at Ye Olde Blah and SFC pretty frequently. You can also view the project page here at The Shining Source.

Hi ! Wanted to drop a line to congratulate you on your project, just finished the demo is spirit of Shining Force is intact! Being myself a world builder, I have a few questions about the time spend on the project and the ambition of it, please send me a line if you want! In the meantime, all the best.

Hey! Sorry for the late reply. I didn’t know these pages had a comments section lol. Nonetheless, I’ll try to answer your questions.

As far as the time spent on the project, I will assume you mean “how much time am I spending working on this project.” The answer to that is it varies. Sometimes I’ll be able to sit down for a month straight and work away at it. Other times I’m too busy to even open the project file. It all depends on how much other work I have to do.

As far as ambition goes, the story and lore of the world is large enough to span several games. I have so many story ideas and places I want to visit. As far as features go, I want to stay as close to SF1 and 2 as possible, but I will be adding a few features and expanding some older ones. If your question pertained more to how long this game will be, my best guess is somewhere around 20-30 battles and a total runtime of 10-20 hours. (Though that’s hard to estimate since I can, of course, run through my game faster than someone who hasn’t played before lol.)

As always, if you have any other questions, feel free to pm me, post on here or my SFC thread, or email me (it’s in the readme file). I appreciate the support!
