Hi, first of all, I'd like to introduce myself... Well I've been playing shining force for about years(well i can never play a lot or i'll get sick of it, so on SF2 I just killed Odd eye(and I stayed like years not playing it because i had a new comp and stuff(and I just started playing it again cos a lighting fried my other comp(so i'm using my father old comp, and the only thing i can do is play SF(i forgot how good the game was))))), and I consider it one of the best Tactical Rpgs I've ever played(not that there are many of them). My other favorites are Advance Wars and Fire Emblem(that I'm still looking an english version for NES and SNES).

I'm a programmer quite experienced with Dark Basic(www.darkbasicpro.com) and I'm trying to learn C-Script(www.3dgamestudio.com) and maybe in a near future Object Pascal and C++. I have a small group of friends that make games, we are currently working in a FPS game. But my "dream" if i can say that way is making a Tactical Rpg game, well it sure is my favorite game style...

I'm also new to this forum as some may have noticed Smiley

Now I see there are some SF Projects going on, but unfortunatly i can't help, since I don't program with that language nor draw really good(well i'm good with sticks!)... But there is other thing I'm good with: Storylines. I have a whole storyline in my head I'd use for my own game, but since this FPS thing is taking us some time, if anyone is interested in initiating a project with me just say it.

What language are you all using for making those games? Don't you have an engine ready to use?

My opinion is that you can enjoy more if you all unite and create an engine or even an maker(so noob people can make games too, some hae greats projects but lack the skills to do it). Anyone ever heard of Rpg Maker? It sucks, but it sure is useful.

I better stop typing now... Anyway I think I'll probably be a regular member here...

Welcome to Ye Olde Blah, Mr.Mo7hM4n.
A combined project would be really great, wouldn't it? But I think that because everyone seems to be using different languages/programs to make their games, it isn't all that feasible. Doesn't stop me thinking that if all the Shining fan game creators got together, something awesome could be made...
I'm using Multimedia Fusion, which probably makes it easier on me than all the other guys here - they actually know a real language or two Cool.
In any case, I hope your project goes well. I think the overall goal of any of us is to actually finish a Shining fan game - good luck!

Thanks. The different languages sure are a problem. But I guess we could learn a new one for a good cause.. I think the ones that are best for it are Object Pascal or C++... I don't know them, but i guess i can learn too... Also I can try to make some tutorials once i learn...

And that's why i suggested someone just to take my storyline and make the game in their own. I could post it here, but I want to make sure people are interested or I will keep it for myself.

Oh, and one thing you are going to learn about me is that I always say a lot but don't make a thing... And I post 100 of lines of useless contents, but in the middle of it you may find something useful.... If you have read it all the way through you know what I mean.

Welcome around!

I have been developing one SF style project although it's still in a rather early phase. The platform I personally use is Java Smiley.

I'm familiar with the looks of the java code but not with the code itself...

Do I need a storyline???
That's a vast question....
Shining Odyssey is allegedly based on an already written storyline from a famous French comic, but I'm not that far in the story that I couldn't change my opinion about that.

However, Shining Odyssey is currently "on hold" and I'm sure development will not start again any time before August...

couldn't play last demo. Waiting for computer. And I have no idea when I will learn C++, but it should be soon because of a Massive Multiplayer Online Tactical Rpg. All planed. I just need to begin it now.
