Ye Olde Blah

In a fit of nostalgia, I started digging through web.archive.org for the old style Shining Source. Remember the old acmefiles site? Now it's just a download website :( Even the old Shining Online geocities is going to die next month, although here's the very first site (http://www.smash.i12.com/shining/noframes/index.htm) for it.

Slightly related: Does anybody know how old the Shining Source actually is? I'm guessing it's about 9 years old now, but I'm not totally sure.

If I recall correctly, we started the Shining Source endeavour on August 10th 2000. Before that it was just a site for the Shiny Sword and before that it was just my personal homepage on Angelfire ;).

Speaking of nostalgia, I remember back in high school I used to visit Ye Olde Blah daily, if not several times a day.  It's been a while since I've been here.

i remember back when i was really little i used to play shining force 2 (or well try to play it) my English was really poor back than so i could not even find a way to get to the first fight :D and when i finally made it that far i didn't know how to play it xD but well  i learned how to play some time later and loved the game :D. Than the new challenge was that i didn't know how to revive characters so i came to the last battle before going to new land or however it is called with only jaha and bowie xD.And in time i overcame that problem and the last thing was that i didn't know how to save... so the most far place i could come to was the pheonix fort or what ever it was  ;D good times

Well, it's a decapitated head floating in water! A parental rating seems very obvious to me :P.

I fancy it's an attempt at sky backing, as seen in portraits in SF2?

It is the char which was originally based on one of Devlyns friends D&D character who uses a grappling hook as a weapon - now that's what I call style.

I know nobody comes here anymore, but I found an old interview with Nick lying around so I published it last night: Shining Aid Interviews (http://www.shiningsource.net/shining-aid/interviews/). I can't remember the date on it though, but I'm guessing it's about 6 years old. How time flies...

Whoa, ancient stuff... :P. By the way, do you think there is any chance we could interview a retired Shining Developer by now? Surely some of them are out of the spotlights now?

I'll see what I can come up wit ;) I've got a few other interview ideas lined up too, once I can make the interview page a little more readable.

Oh, I may well be working at University College London there for a few years. I'm wondering if any of you still reside in Britain though. I recall something about moves to the US??

Newts still lives in the UK, but I moved to the states last year. I still come back to visit the UK when I can though, so maybe I'll be able to buy you a beer one of these days ;)
