Title: Anyone need help?
Post by: solmyr on May 02, 2006, 12:52:14 am
Hi.. I just found out about this site. Way to go to everyone keeping Shining Force alive! Seems like most of the posts are pretty old though?  I was considering starting my own shining style project. Maybe though it would be smarter to join in with someone else? Perhaps thats the best way to actually complete a playable game?  I know modeling/animation/textures (3ds max) and have been studying C++ for a while.  I'm probably miles behind in knowlege than most of you guys, but if you need help I'd love to join in. Thanks. :)

Hmm... well, we haven't been very active as of late, but I do know some projects are still ongoing. Your best bet may be to visit the project pages at:
http://www.shiningsource.net/projects.php

And contact some of the developers? :)
Or perhaps, people who are interested in your expertise can post here ;).

Cheers!

I checked out the projects.. seems like most projects haven't been updated for a while though, except for Dark Resurection and Shiny Sword. Both of which look very cool! Perhaps I'll return to my original idea of working on my own project. Would it be possible to add my project to the project list on this site?

Of course! However, I do think the best moment to add your project is as soon as you've got *something*. A screenshot, a small demo or something like that ;).

So I made a small web page to start posting info and screens of my SF project. I'm working on the coding so much lately that I don't have many visuals to show yet.

The link is below, if you could add me to the projects list that would be great. I'll put a link back to this site too if you like. Thanks.

^^ Looks promising! I wish i could help but i gave up programing... (i got tired of pulling my hair out from searching through lines of code for a simple mistake i might of made) but hey, if you need a web designer, thats a different story! ^^

That's good work Solmyr, already the graphics look better than Shining Online, and we worked on that for years!

The best of luck with the project, it looks like you're off to a flying start, keep it up :)

Hi Solmyr,

Sorry for my late response, I'll try to add you a.s.a.p. :)

EDIT: well, it's kinda added now, but Ty accidently switched 2 fields around in the submission page and I lost the link to the DB backend :S.

Thanks, please don't feel the need to rush though. I really don't have much content to even show yet

Well, at this point there is also a second project that wants to register, so things become even busier :P.

Hey Solmyr, I'm planning a 3d shining project; PM me if you'd like to discuss colaboration of some kind...
If anything I might come up with something you could use in the course of my project. Take care! :D

Newts - Thanks for the positve feedback!

Alberto - Thanks for the offer! I'll keep you in mind if it's decided that the project warrants a proper site.

Jibe - Sure, I'll PM you shortly about a possible collaboration. Thanks.

Devlyn - Again no rush, when it is ready though, will it also have a worklog? That would be very cool, and a good way to keep me on track.

Hi Solmyr,

I can easily add that, but you'll need an account here to be able to update it. Do you want me to make a news/worklog posting account for you? :)

On a different note, I finally got access to the back-end :)
