Watched it recently on DVD and it really disturbed me as it was weird and brilliant at the same time. Great actors and a disturbing story about a boy who has to take heavy medicaments because he's considered metally ill because he sees a creature that tells him that a tragic event will happen soon. All this is combined with the idea of time travel and its ethics. Haven't seen so disturbing pictures since Natural Born Killers - tho Donnie Darko needed no blood to disturb me. Still can't decide if I love or hate it. IMDB can't even decide the genre: "Fantasy / Drama / Sci-Fi / Mystery / Thriller" But at least it has a better summery than mine: "During the presidential election of 1988, a teenager named Donnie Darko sleepwalks out of his house one night, and sees a giant, demonic-looking rabbit named Frank, who tells him the world will end in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds. He returns home the next morning to find that a jet engine has crashed through his bedroom. As he tries to figure out why he survived and tries to deal with people in his town, like the school bully, his conservative health teacher, and a self-help guru, Frank continues to turn up in Donnie's mind, causing him to commit acts of vandalism and worse." Title: Donnie Darko Post by: McPhisto on April 10, 2004, 01:07:11 am This is a really weird movie...I felt really stuffed up after watching it - hadn't slept for ages, was possibly slightly drunk. But still, once I thought it over in my head, it did seem like a good movie.
