I've been using this little RPG prog for a couple of years now. It is a game that does everything for you, leaving you to reap the benefits (I think).

If you want to give it a run, go to this page (http://www.progressquest.com/) and download it. I suggest starting a multiplayer character and joining F.U.B.A.R (Fairly Upscale Bachelors at the Ready), the guild I "run". To join a guild, press alt+G while the game is running. To view character stats as compared to everyone else, press alt+B.

The program takes next to no resources while running, so you can have it chug away in the background while you dont care.

Be sure to post your character's name and stats.

I'd rather run something useful in the background.

I also run useful things in the background. In fact I am an active Folding at Home (http://folding.stanford.edu/) member (please go to link for details). Progress Quest takes up no CPU power and about 3.4-ish megs of RAM. I currently have the game running on my file server so that it is always on. Almost any other program takes up more resources than that.
