Much work remains to be done, but here's just a package to show you guys how things are progressing. I think there may be close to an hour of gameplay in there now...

Of course, the documentation is nearly non-existant as it's a total alpha version, but I hope the game will work for at least some of you! :)

OK I think I got as far as I'm going to get (BONEWALKERS!@#!@#!)
Stuck - can't give equipment to other teammates either out of battle or at shop.

lol! That's not bad at all though ;).

Did you manage to get to the full party size of 5?

I'll be sure to make some improvements to the item interface soon as well. It's all early days of course. And I'll look into the game restart as well.

You can quicksave the game with F4 by the way, and load with F8. If you haven't saved yet, you may be able to load my game, which is post-Bonewalker battle ;).

It will be fun to get past the Bonewalker battle, as you will be able to face the evil Medusa ;).

That bug with the items in the shop is only when i have 3 people in my party.
with 2 it works fine.

another bug report for ya
beat the bonewalker cyclops fight, then go straight up and get to new map.
go straight up to some painting or writing, array index error on trying to read it.

my biggest issue is levelling lace, and she's the last one alive, WHAT CAN SHE DO???!
(Items - Compact Mirror - Use On Medusa)
Orrrr maybe she'll just die.

I guess she dies...this time (she does some damage though even without MP, right?).

Either way, thanks a lot for your bug reports! The next version will have at least one extra repeatable battle, more treasure chests and I'll look into the item and writing issues as well :).

And if I get around to making more graphics, I might add a monster or character or two :).

Latest (buggy) version is always available on SVN :).

OK so I got subversion working but my IDE isn't playing ball with compiling.

However the shop bug looks like it is related to this code:

      partycount = Buffer.Party.size();

so i think it's only getting the party count the first time you use the shop and never again.
ie: if i visit shopkeeper just with "He" and then come back with even 2 people, it doesnt allow changing.

Hey guys,

Thanks for testing it! Clearly a lot still should be done, but I guess you like it so far then?

One issue I found is that when I install it cleanly, it doesn't work out of the box for me because the class files haven't been generated yet. I'm not yet sure how to best solve that...

If time allows (I have a lot of trips this week), I'll check the shop too, and see what I can change/improve there :).

Oh yeah absolutely, I love it.
Still trying to work out how to win haha :D

The shop seems pretty robust except for that one point, it just needs that statement for getting the partycount to be outside the doonce check I believe.

Oh, I took that variable out altogether now, referring to the dynamically maintained Buffer.Party.size() now :).

As far as I can tell, it works properly now. Feel free to let me know of any other feature requests etc!

Few more updates as of late. Fixed the bandit shack battle and I've been enhancing a few maps... :)

Added an overland map, I'm working on a second location, and I've begun preparing for a more detailed walkabout menu that allows item use, item giving and spellcasting outside of battle :).

Possibly, although I personally prefer a manual retreat move. That way, someone in the party will have to try to reach a square close to the starting point without being shot down/killed by enemies.

That will also enable the possibility to have battles where the objective is *not* to slay all opposition, but instead to sneak past...

Made more progress with the walkabout menu, added more stuff to the Taziram map and added a cave level to the game. :)

Giving items is now possible, although the interface is still very non-descriptive (will need to add more text menus :)).

Added descriptions to the interface, updated the overland map and have made preparations to reintroduce Kyra into the game. I'm forking the sprites from the old Kyra/Lace sprites, making a more boring one for Lace (she is meant to be more "boring") and sticking closer to Elv's original for Kyra.
