Title: Bung Ole Never Ending Thread: Turbo Super Version Alpha 6.34
Post by: Edgemaster on December 16, 2004, 09:55:35 pm
:D

I think we are ready for another BONET, the forums seem lively enough to ressurrect it once more.

Some topics for starters:

1. If Devlyn were an animal, what animal would he be?

2. Where the feck did my last bung ole never ending thread go? With all the bulls etc

3. If we lived underwater, it would be pretty kool. But we couldn't drink any beer! Discuss.

4. What attributes is the human body missing out on, I mean, we get a rough deal here. No poisenous fangs, stings, wings or tails. We can't fly, we can't crawl up walls, lay eggs or breathe underwater. We don't get tusks, trunks or large cheeks in which to store food (or beer). Discuss.

5. How many Devlyn's does it take to change a lightbulb?

6. *wiggle*

7. When is SO demo 5 coming out?

1. If Devlyn were an animal, what animal would he be?

He'd be the ?ber-rare peanut butter beetle, only spotted in certain Dutch hovels, laboratories and football fields. It coats its shell with smooth peanut butter, as that enables it to roll over, should it become stricken upon its back. This is an artist's depiction of the peanut butter beetle;

Some picture of something.

2. Where the feck did my last bung ole never ending thread go? With all the bulls etc

Unfortunately it died once Dev barfed all over it, but now it's back at the top I can be crowned the rightful winner!

3. If we lived underwater, it would be pretty kool. But we couldn't drink any beer! Discuss.

I don't drink beer, so that would be a sacrifice I'm willing to make. However, I would be concerned that we wouldn't be able to eat solid food, as the excess moisture would cause it to go all soggy, ruining my favourite meal of toast and Marmite. If someone develops waterproof toast, there's a good buck in it from me.

4. What attributes is the human body missing out on, I mean, we get a rough deal here. No poisonous fangs, stings, wings or tails. We can't fly, we can't crawl up walls, lay eggs or breathe underwater. We don't get tusks, trunks or large cheeks in which to store food (or beer). Discuss.

Personally, I'd like to be able to breathe underwater, as well as change my skin colour and texture at will. And rotate my eyeballs independently, but only I should be able to do that as an awesome trick at parties, and to make people sick occasionally. - like that, only one eye goes clockwise. That'd be awesome.

5. How many Devlyns does it take to change a lightbulb?

Three - the first one tried but broke his pinky, the second tried and faked a pinky injury and the third one, after quite some procrastinating, erm... moved it with the power of his mind.

6. *wiggle*

*wiggle wiggle*

7. When is SO demo 5 coming out?

Soon. Very soon.

Never.

1. If Devlyn were an animal, what animal would he be?

I refuse to comment on this matter ;). However, question is what kind of animal you would be :P.

2. Where the feck did my last bung ole never ending thread go? With all the bulls etc

It's right next to this one ;). I guess people never did manage to recover from the gore in the final battle? ;)

3. If we lived underwater, it would be pretty kool. But we couldn't drink any beer! Discuss.

Au contraire my friend. What if we live in beer instead of water? Of course we'd have reduced visibility, but we also have enough beer for everyone :D

Discuss.

I still feel we miss a flaming breath attack. Imagine walking over a farm and turning your favorite animal into freshly roasted meet in 5 seconds! Then again a trunk would be cool too, perhaps it'd help to speed up the beer consumption? :d

5. How many Devlyn's does it take to change a lightbulb?

Probably more than we have :P.

6. *wiggle*

Does this count? :P

7. When is SO demo 5 coming out?

As soon as I completed my project I'll make a SO demo 5.
In other words, in 2492*.

*depending on the productivity of my offspring :P

Dev, Dev, Dev. For shame, young one. Hast thou never heard of "ye olde beer goggles"? Beer goggles give you absolutely perfect vision in any circumstances, and go excellently with this season's hottest accessory, the beer jacket.

What about in 2492, when you've fathered and grandfathered many Baby Devlyns? THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

Also, what's the best kind of frog in the world? I like the poison arrow frog.

That would be heaven on earth. Next to that - why should one eat as long as we have beer? Reminds me of the Queen Song:
"This world could be heaven for everyone"

BTW Netwts - where can I get these goggles? I think they would be perfect for my "Beer formed this delicious body" shirt......

Hey, somebody surely puked in the ocean, and people swim in that too ;). Besides, if all people ever take is beer, you've got to start wondering what they'll puke :D.

And I want those goggles!

And..ermmm... children? I'm not sure if I'm ready to sponsor the peanut butter factory to that degree as of yet O_O.

Also, as being the main subject of most rumours it's hard for me to comment in such a harsh environment such as a bonee :P.

As the official beginner and namer of the art of BONET (Devlyn will back me up on that, I'm sure) I wish to add:

wiggle

Title: Bung Ole Never Ending Thread: Turbo Super Version Alpha 6.34
Post by: Elvenfyre on February 20, 2005, 11:17:58 am
Oh, and some other answers:
Devlyn would be a White Tiger.

I don't know how you run your BONETs, but they require careful watering and lots of sunshine.

Yes we could drink beer if we lived under water, nothing could ever stop some humans from drinking beer.

I don't think we're missing out on much, fangs and tusks make it harder to fit stuff in your mouth, stings and venom of any kind would be real problematic in lovemaking, tails and wings might be all right, but just think of the tailoring issues.  Lastly large cheeks would make us look close to the fish people in star wars 1.

Devlyn doesn't change lightbulbs, he gets someone else to do it for him.
It's our combined motto that if something is worth doing, it's worth getting someone else to do for you.

Best way to kill a man, well actually the least effort is expended if you just leave him to it, he will die eventually - and you needn't lift a finger.

Oh and two quick questions to learn less about you more specifically.

Which are cooler, Pirates or Ninjas?

Which is cooler, the Mystery Machine, or the Batmobile (original)

Title: Bung Ole Never Ending Thread: Turbo Super Version Alpha 6.34
Post by: Devlyn on February 20, 2005, 11:47:48 am
I am not sure whether it was Fox or you who started the very first Bonee, but you were for sure among the first 3 participants ;).

Of course, the batmobile has much more potential than the Mystery Machine. First of all, it is more aerodynamic and has a higher top speed. Second, has a superior color scheme and technical specifications.

Still, I doubt the batmobile would be very suitable in a city. Especially here in Holland, where we have these things called "drempels" which would totally fuck up a bat-mobile.

If you wonder what a 'drempel' on the road is, think this:
_____/----\_______

Title: Bung Ole Never Ending Thread: Turbo Super Version Alpha 6.34
Post by: Elvenfyre on February 20, 2005, 11:57:27 am
Yeah it came from me, Bungs my word I used back then.  For sure :P

Don't be taking my glory away from me :P

I dunno about that colour scheme thing.
And of course the Mystery Machine has that HIP thing going for it ;D
Lots of space in the back to fit a 42" LCD screen to play DVD's and run your computer on.
I think the MM would be more economical on gas too, somehow.

Anyway, you're the one who called it a BONET, and not the full thing, but somehow we all pronounce it as if it's french.  (Bonee, as you put it, or in true english style we'd say "Bonay")

It takes two people to run a BONET, and that's all, the rest is just magic :)

If you could instantly be a master of one of the following weapons(in the current day, current world), which would you choose?
The katana
The nunchucks
The longbow
The throwing daggers

?

Title: Bung Ole Never Ending Thread: Turbo Super Version Alpha 6.34
Post by: Devlyn on February 20, 2005, 12:32:00 pm
Why the longbow of course! Either you're an elven-wannabe or you're not :P.

Still, the Glaive-Guisarme has a nice ring to it as well ;).

Now it's my turn though:
If you could create the offspring of any two creatures, which two creatures would you use to combine? :P

It was the mailman's last day on the job after 35 years of carrying the mail through all kinds of weather to the same neighbourhood.
When he arrived at the first house on his route he was greeted by the whole family there, who congratulated him and sent him on his way with a big gift envelope.
At the second house they presented him with a box of fine cigars. The folks at the third house handed him a selection of terrific fishing lures.
At the fourth house he was met at the door by a strikingly beautiful woman in a revealing negligee. She took him by the hand, gently led him through the door, and led him up the stairs to the bedroom where she blew his mind with the most passionate love he had ever experienced.
When he had had enough they went downstairs, where she fixed him a giant breakfast: eggs, potatoes, ham, sausage, blueberry waffles, and fresh-squeezed orange juice. When he was truly satisfied she poured him a cup of steaming coffee.
As she was pouring, he noticed a dollar bill sticking out from under the cup's bottom edge. "All this was just too wonderful for words," he said, "but what's the dollar for?"
"Well," she said, "last night, I told my husband that today would be your last day, and that we should do something special for you. I asked him what to give you."
He said, "Fuck him, give him a dollar."
The lady then said, "The breakfast was my idea."

You're all gonna make me talk to myself again aren't you.

Meanwhile, I'm on day 3 of a 7 day ban on coffee and sugar.
The weekend was long, and it was hard - but I made it, despite the coming easter bringing delicious chocolatey goodness in front of my face constantly.

I think I'm through the worst of it, I now only have a constant craving for a coffee, compared with being crumpled up in the corner angry at the world.

Just to see what sort of difference it makes.
My appetite has increased(a good thing for me), I've been drinking heaps of water to help stave away the cravings,  and I don't feel sick because the only thing I've had all day are umpteen cups of coffee.

Day 5:
I feel stronger, more energised and my mind is clearer.  My eyes have even stopped hurting so much.  BUT I STILL WANT SOME FRICKEN COFFEE GIMME GIMME AND EASTER EGG GIMME.  [pulls self away from the bad things]

I really think if you're going to construct a girlfriend, you need to do it on a partner rotate basis for the psyche.  You design his girls mind, he designs yours.  (With some laid out ground rules first)  That way you still get surprises, but (hopefully) only good ones.

It's possible - although considering the number of daily posters, it would only take one person not to post,  who usually drags someone else into posting, who in turn drags another person into posting to cause this.
It certainly couldn't be construed as weird if two people got caught up in their ..poetry analysis and/or girlfriend on the one day.

If you won One Million US Dollars, what would you do during the rest of this year that you would not have done otherwise.

Don't just say "buy a house and put the rest in the bank" because I'm sure if you think about it, you would do a lot more interesting stuff than that.  Whenever we are flush we like to spend a bit more on frivolous things and fun events - so share with me your master plans to take over the world.

I would save money by:

* Not paying workers. I would promise to, but on completion of the statue I would line them all up and disintegrate them. Possibly from the feet up. I would power the laser beam with their children.

* Putting the one million dollars on the floor outside university. Then telling people that by leaping out of the eigth story window onto a trampoline, I would give them the million dollars. There would be no trampoline. Once people say students flying out of windows to their death, they would declare the building unsafe and knock it down.

Best part of it all? At the end, I still have one million dollars.

I do, but in terms of imagination, expression, creativity and so forth, NiGHTS blows it (and all other games) out of the water. It gets better each and every time you play it due to the advanced Artificial Life system and astonishingly good music, which remixes itself every time you play to reflect how happy/sad/angry your little Nightopian creatures are.

Regardless, some games are simply Pipe O Justice resiliant, due to uncomparable aspects and enigmatic x-factors.

The other day I recorded an acoustic version of Mmmbop with a friend of mine. We also did a piano cover of In The End by Linkin Park.

We're super-duper talented, we are.

The fact that someone is allowed to like Mmmbop, and is given the space and allowed the resources ungrudgingly by others in order to record an accoustic version of it is the definition of freedom.

I was about to tell you guys all to shut up about how it used to be better.
It's never better than it was, it always was better.

Though I remember when it was just Devlyn and Fox and myself and it was good, but we had the same problems.  The good times always exceeded the bad times by about a billion on the funometer.

Then I realised I had some really important questions to ask you.

Firstly, if you could turn into any shining force 1 or 2 character for a day who would you be, and what day(battle/town) would that be?

Secondly, who can come up with the most inventive way to kill someones dog without getting caught?

Thirdly, if you had to wear a one coloured jacket for the rest of your life - what colour?

Also something to ponder: I had around 15 phone calls today for my birthday, yet they were ALL in the 2 hour window where I was in the middle of a board game.

Finally, a challenge: who is willing to post a photo of themselves up for us to use freely for a photoshop competition :>

Firstly, if you could turn into any shining force 1 or 2 character for a day who would you be, and what day(battle/town) would that be?

- I'd go for Kazin in the Polca battle. Nothing beats scorching away heaps of zombies :P. Besides, I like that town :).

Secondly, who can come up with the most inventive way to kill someones dog without getting caught?

- I think you can :P. Although, if I'd do it, I'd probably use this (http://65.127.124.62/south_asia/4483241.stm.htm) parasite...

Thirdly, if you had to wear a one coloured jacket for the rest of your life - what colour?

- I'd go for brown in that case. Doesn't stain easily and stuff :P.

Also something to ponder: I had around 15 phone calls today for my birthday, yet they were ALL in the 2 hour window where I was in the middle of a board game.

- ...and you didn't happen to play this 'phone date' board game that used to be so popular here in the late 80s?

Finally, a challenge: who is willing to post a photo of themselves up for us to use freely for a photoshop competition :>

-I'm willing. Does that mean I have to upload something? :P

Firstly, if you could turn into any shining force 1 or 2 character for a day who would you be, and what day(battle/town) would that be?

I would have to be Jaha, so I could be a short dude with a cool nose and a bandana. Jaha rules. It would probably be on the Nazca ship as well, so I could see the world below me. That would be doubly cool.

Secondly, who can come up with the most inventive way to kill someone's dog without getting caught?

I gave it a lot of thought, but I wouldn't like to incriminate myself when the story comes out in a few days.

Thirdly, if you had to wear a one coloured jacket for the rest of your life - what colour?

Navy blue. Goes with any season.

Also something to ponder: I had around 15 phone calls today for my birthday, yet they were ALL in the 2 hour window where I was in the middle of a board game.

Interesting...

Finally, a challenge: who is willing to post a photo of themselves up for us to use freely for a photoshop competition :>

As per usual, I'm up for it.

I did this in Paint. I even added the "eaten" effect on the end of the banana all by myself. Aren't I clever?

Also, here's a question - can you believe most YoB posters used to have over 1,000 posts? I can't.

He's a secret character in SHF4, you get him in the lolly city (which you can only reach through that really difficult battle against the chickens)

Oh wait.. no that's from my weird premonition dreams.. [sigh]  Hate it when I wake up and there really is no SHF4.

Funny story... I somehow managed to become an admin at a Harry Potter fanboard.   One day, just to be a bastard, I changed the word "the" to "weasel,"  "Harry" to Bob, "Potter" to Dole, and "Rowling" to Hempmaster J.

It took them two days to catch on.  Bwahaha.  Imagine a sentence like this:

"So I was reading my Bob Dole and weasel Prisoner of Askaban and I noticed that Hempmaster J twists weasel plot around a lot."

It's mostly because I have more posts on boards I don't particularly like than on this one, just because they're busier. I might even start resurrecting my daily topic, just because I can.

Well, maybe not bushy, but certainly fluffy whilst it's drying.

It could well be defective, but it's probably more due to laziness on my part than any actual brokenness in my hair - I rarely, if ever, decide to style it. I'm just too darn lazy.

Thankfully I'm a moderator here so I can be completely corrupt and edit his post so that the emoticons never appeared. But equally thankfully, I'm a nice guy, so I won't do that.

Threaten the emoticons again, however, and I might let loose my ?uper-?ber emoticon on you. You have been warned!

Oh I know that one, it's the hakkondo code for the ancient curse "eat this salami or else you will die a slow and painful death".

What I want to know, is who here would ever eat salami anyone else from this board offered them?  Certainly they would eat the salami themselves before offering it out unless there was something dreadfully wrong with it, because there's nothing to be said for someone who doesn't eat all their own salami.  Of course, they may have tonnes and tonnes of salami for themselves and then possibly they could decide to be generous, but then at least there would be a swap for someones extra herring...

All in all I feel warm and satisfied by your post Akir.

Are you thinking "damm bratwurst is tasty"? I know I am.

Elv - never mention Sonic porn again. Especially don't do a Google Image Search for "Sondow". It's just not worth the pain.

What I want to know, is who here would ever eat salami anyone else from this board offered them?

I have been known to ingest food which Ty himself has prepared/offered, but he's about the only one I'd trust. I wouldn't mind some salami Sean offered me of course, but you never know what those guys do to it on the flight over.

Title: Bung Ole Never Ending Thread: Turbo Super Version Alpha 6.34

Sonic porn.
I won't be doing the search though, no matter how curious I am.

Yeah anything that has been cleared by customs should be ok, as long as you get the customs delcaration form off them and make sure it's not categorised under something other than deli food.

Maybe I should try sending some salami to you, Elv. It's flat, so it'd be cheap to ship. Easy.

That is, of course, if you trust me to send you salami via air mail.

Akir - want some more attention? I'm all yours.

A friend of mine told me off for spelling it "baloney" - she claims it's actually spelt bologna, but pronounced baloney/baloni. She's half-Italian and from New York, so if anyone should know what they're talking about it should be her (stereotypes ahoy!) but I'm sticking to good ol' baloney by now.

I want a cool hat.

She's right, it is spelt Bologna, amazing really that I didn't know.
Bolognese, etc.

I was just sticking to the salami rule haha.
Baloney is bullshit, or lies etc.

Don't you have a ninja hat, or is that someone else?

Then all we need is a pirate hat and we'll have a battle: cowboy, ninja and pirate.

A good Ipaq, because it's the only one that will ever have a remote hope of playing Ogg Vorbis, which is the actual best audio codec in the world. Plus, It doesn't make those terrible hissing sounds when it's played t low bitrate. Plus, it's OSS.

Not like I have an Ipaq. That would be cool. Then I could use Blender on it!

And now for the music Im listening to... nothing else of intrest... aside from me HAVEING to reply

I am a little bit of loneliness, a little bit of disregard
Handful of complaints, but I can help the fact, that everybody can see these scars
What I want you to want, what I want you to feel
But it?s like no matter what I do, I can?t convince you, to just believe this is real
So I let go, watching you, turn your back like you always do
Face away and pretend that I?m not
But I?ll be here ?cause you want what I?ve got

I can?t feel the way I did before
Don?t turn your back on me
I won?t be ignored
Time won?t heal this damage anymore
Don?t turn your back on me
I won?t be ignored

I am a little bit insecure, a little unconfident
?cause you don?t understand, I do what I can, but sometimes I don?t make sense
I say what you never wanna say, but I?ve never had a doubt
It?s like no matter what I do, I can?t convince you, for once just to hear me out
So I let go, watching you, turn your back like you always do
Face away and pretend that I?m not
But I?ll be here ?cause you want what I?ve got

I can?t feel the way I did before
Don?t turn your back on me
I won?t be ignored
Time won?t heal this damage anymore
Don?t turn your back on me
I won?t be ignored

Now
Hear me out now
You?re gonna listen to me, like it or not
Right now
Hear me out now
You?re gonna listen to me, like it or not
Right now

I can?t feel the way I did before
Don?t turn your back on me
I won?t be ignored

I can?t feel the way I did before
Don?t turn your back on me
I won?t be ignored
Time won?t heal this damage anymore
Don?t turn your back on me
I won?t be ignored

I can?t feel
I won?t be ignored
Time won?t heal
Don?t turn your back on me
I won?t be ignored

Wonder who can guess what this is?!? o_O

Have you guys seen the movie Anchorman?

By far the best line in the movie is when they're all talking about the shenanigans they got up to last night, and Brick says "I ate a big red candle!".

Not as good as Night at the Roxbury, but it's still worth a watch if you can put up with the arrogant white protagonist.

Night at the Roxbury is really good - regardless of how much you dislike him on principle.

In Anchorman he's just annoying, mostly.  The other characters carry it.

I wouldn't like a moustache.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a gypsy queen,
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle all dressed in green,
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle 'til the moon is blue,
Wiggle 'til the moon sees you.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle in your boots and shoes,
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, you got nothing to lose,
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, like a swarm of bees,
Wiggle on your hands and knees.

Bridge #1:
Wiggle to the front, wiggle to the rear,
Wiggle 'til you wiggle right out of here,
Wiggle 'til it opens, wiggle 'til it shuts,
Wiggle 'til it bites, wiggle 'til it cuts.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup,
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop,
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead,
Wiggle - you can raise the dead.

Bridge #2:
Wiggle 'til you're high, wiggle 'til you're higher,
Wiggle 'til you vomit fire,
Wiggle 'til it whispers, wiggle 'til it hums,
Wiggle 'til it answers, wiggle 'til it comes.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like satin and silk,
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a pail of milk,
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, rattle and shake,
Wiggle like a big fat snake.

I've had a semi moustache before, which looked pretty good. I have a good under chin beard as well, which looks even better. That part is a lie.

Elv - have you ever considered joining the Wiggles?

I will try to put it another way - my name is "    "  - as in you go to say something, but nothing comes out.

Perhaps you could say my name is "ggggg" with silent G's, only without the g's.

It's kind of hard for people wanting to get my attention, so that's why I use an alias online.

What's the procedure again for a Witch found in Ye Olde Blah?

1) Immerse subject in Jello
2) Make a river of spam and build platform above it.
3) Place Jello'd subject on said platform.
4) Burn platform away(blaze level 1)
5) Watch to see if they can eat their way out of the spam since as we know, Witches hate spam.

Dictionary.com can confirm that it isn't, as can I. The word is "often", or synonyms are "regularly", "frequently" or "more often", if you're pedantic.

Thanks for listening.

You can't use the dictionary to define whether something is a word or not without using the same dictionary to define what a word is.

That's just bad form.

Word: A sound or a combination of sounds, or its representation in writing or printing, that symbolizes and communicates a meaning and may consist of a single morpheme or of a combination of morphemes.

I believe we all knew the meaning Akir was conveying, which would make the representation of that (ie: "oftenly") a word.

herring and cream was invented by the ninjitsu martial arts thousands of years ago

it used to be a katana in salt.

But ancients masters have discovered that herrings make deeper wounds, and that cream hurts more when smakced to gether with a herring

They're astonishingly uncool. What's the point of them, though?

I think we're too stupid to take over anywhere - we can't even be bothered acting like we own this place, which we do. Ish.

We're not even training any astronauts at the moment, but we should be, in my opinion. I'd be a wicked astronaut.

I think we should just use germ warfare.  Release something dreadfully nasty that will drop those blighters like flies.  Or perhaps given their advanced intelligent nature we should release a kind of psychological virus.

Hmm.

I've got it!      We'll release cynicism!

They'll all be too pissed off with life to get up and do anything about the fact we're invading.

OK I think I have a ticket for you to mars Newts, I've made a one man rocket out of my old freezer, which is powered with racism.  So wherever you choose to launch from, we just set the dial to that race and it'll zoom away from the earth powered with hatred and disgust.  I'd suggest starting in France since they're the easiest to hate.

Ty's stock took a small hit today with the news he may never be able to drink milk again.

Trading on Devlyn remained steady at 22 points, slightly up from yesterday due to a raise in the demand for Dutch yellow water.

Elvenfyre Inc took a huge dip after that earlier exchange with Newtsco over the antidote herb and the eye. Stockholders are clamouring for the head of Chief Executive Elve N. Fyre and demanding someone be dismissed for this "disaster".

Stocks in Loki Trister, Sir Phill, Akir and Mage of Blackest Night are all still available. Buy low, sell high!

I live in New Zealand, not the USA, which I pointed out to you.

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=categorisation

Synonym: categorization.

If you want to be a pedantic, don't take on a pedantic with more experience.

It's not as if I was actually trying to spell correctly or anything anyway.  I just hate being told I'm spelling things wrong when I'm not :P

A word you mentioned: "its" is actually spelled "it's" with an apostrophe in the context you gave it.
Perhaps the apostrophes you used for quotation marks meant you were left with few to spare, since I notice you did the same for an incorrect spelling of "we're".

:P

Don't harass my spelling :P

As for your question Akir, yes I do advertise(Seanikins, notice my use of s compared to z, both are words in the dictionary meaning very similar things funnily enough!).

Anyway, enough of me being a grumpy bumb.

Title: Bung Ole Never Ending Thread: Turbo Super Version Alpha 6.34
Post by: Newts on July 24, 2005, 03:42:19 pm
Elv - it's not possible to be a pedantic, as pedantic is an adjective. The correct noun form is simply "pedant".

Also, what's a "bumb"?

We could go on like this for ever, but we shouldn't.

Has anyone received any malicious hatemail in recent times? I've just had a lovely email from one of my Uni friends calling me every name under the Sun. It really was rather beautiful.

So why not make it hotter by detonating an atomic bomb there?

mostly that, but there'll be a decent  video card and Wireless networking (G) card and a floppy and CD burner/DVD-ROM drive. and a recycled 6GB HD. I'm only hoping that my stuff works with it. At least I won't have to pay Ubuntu over $100 for a 64 bit OS like Microsoft does.

Hannah bought her computer from Aldi and got a rather good deal on it. I bought my new one from Dell - thank goodness it wasn't Tiny :newtstongue:

Apparently they're now selling laptops in Woolworths, and Asda sell lots of TVs and electronic goods and so forth. No doubt in a few years' time you'll be able to buy anything in a supermarket, and there'll be no other kind of shops around.

Title: Bung Ole Never Ending Thread: Turbo Super Version Alpha 6.34
Post by: Elvenfyre on July 31, 2005, 03:44:13 am
Here it can still be cheaper and you can make a better pc if you buy the parts and build it yourself, but it really depends on what packages are being rolled out.
Laptop prices tumbling of course is changing all that as I speak.

Oh you, pretty chitty bang bang, pretty chitty bang bang we love you.

the sempron being a 32-bit processor is prof that i'm misinformed. that means that SOMEONE HAS BEEN LYING TO ME!!!!!!!

Anyways, I scrapped the idea of a new computer for the idea of a new PC. Pocket PC, that is.

it ended up not helping me as much as I thought it would, though. Contrary to the popular belief, the IPAQ version of Blender doesn't work. and worst of all, there isn't a good mod tracker for PPCs. The only thing I can do with it is make some documents with Pocket Word (which I see as better then the desktop version because of a handwriting recognizer and easier addition of audio to documents; the microphone is right on the top). However, i will find a good tracker and a good 3d modeler!!!!

Pocket PCs are crap.

If almost anything breaks on it, the whole thing is rendered useless.

I'm pretty sure they're not designed to run 3D modelling apps, full scale word processing or audio apps, but then what would I know?

I've used mine for nearly a year now, and it's uber handy for most things. Great for showing photos, capturing notes and keeping tabs on what I should be doing and when. Personally, I think it's the best piece of technology I've bought in a long time. Granted, it takes a while to get used to, but after that it's plain sailing.

Let's take it to a thousand posts for Edgey :)

Questions a posing.

What's the most common .. energy drink in your location?
Here it's a close race between V and RedBull.  Though the first one I believe was lucozade(probably not made with the same stuff) out a long long time ago.

How would you describe Ye Olde Blah in floral terms?  If it was a plant/flower what would it be?

Come up with 4 animals, and stick them together (you can use human too if you like) - describe what part of the beast is what etc.. but there must be 4 different types!  :>
If you find this a little, blah - then you can also develop one for this challenge... the best jungle predator you can concoct(once again, must combine 4 animals).

Do you find the word FORBIDDEN quite alluring?

My mother asked me to name her computer teddy bear, so I called it Mr_ScrollLock - do you think I'm mean naming a computer teddy such?
(He's golden yellow)

If you were a fruit, what kind of fruit would you be?

What's the most common .. energy drink in your location?

Everyone here drinks Red Bull if they want to become hyperactive. In fact, it's traditional here to only drink Lucozade when you're ill. True story.

How would you describe Ye Olde Blah in floral terms?  If it was a plant/flower what would it be?

I think it would be a very beanstalk - it goes on and on for ever, but doesn't seem to accomplish much. It's also very green.

Come up with 4 animals, and stick them together

I would have the agility of a squirrel, the speed of a cheetah, the jumping ability of a spider monkey and the body of an elephant.

Do you find the word FORBIDDEN quite alluring?

Yes. Must be my Adam's apple talking.

My mother asked me to name her computer teddy bear, so I called it Mr_ScrollLock - do you think I'm mean naming a computer teddy such?
(He's golden yellow)

I don't understand. What's a computer teddy bear? I think if I had a computer teddy bear, whatever one is, I'd call it PgDn or AltGr. I think a computer bear would make the noise "altgr"

If you were a fruit, what kind of fruit would you be?

An over-ripened peach, for I can sometimes be a little tart. Boom boom.

Cooked, preferably.

I've been into the egg eating bigtime lately.  The last couple of months I've had more eggs each week than I'd have had in the last few years.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm hard boiled egg.
mmmmmmm scrambled egg mmmmmmmm poached egg mmmmmmm fried egg

I love eggs, from my head down to my legs.

I don't actually like eggs on their own. Never have.

A quick Google search reveals to me that there are lots of people with Bonet for a surname. Perhaps we should get in touch with them and ask them to come by?

Remember when Chris Day, the Christian singer, came by and started posting? That ruled.

I just made some eggs based on my previous reply, I couldn't help it.

I had three and they were scrumptious.

Eggs are where it's at.  I didn't eat eggs for years just because the thought of the taste made me cringe - even though I didn't really mind the taste, it was more the thought.

Mm.  weird.

sometimes I have nightmares about the color of this forum leaching out into the real world and replacing real people.

It's kind of sad that the shades of blue and purple are superinteligent, but green is kind of dumb.

I'd love to have more fingers, but not as much as I'd like to have another hand altogether. Otherwise it would just get crowded on there.

Elvenfyre is from various places.

His arms were created in a top secret bunker in Russia.

His legs and torso escaped unarmed from Area 51.

Some say his head and brain fell from the sky, others say they burrowed up from the ground. They are approximately 0.1% larger than other heads. Scientists are baffled as to why.

After much arguing about who was going on top, his body assembled itself 20,000 leagues under the sea.

More beer please.

Today I was working on a formula to calculate how much potato you can eat in one go. I haven't got it here because I need to introduce a few more variables, but it's quite a good formula that needs a little tweaking.

Title: Bung Ole Never Ending Thread: Turbo Super Version Alpha 6.34
Post by: Ty on March 03, 2006, 11:35:10 pm
I used maths (gasp) to work out the following:

If you had ?53 million in ?10 notes, and you stacked them under your matress, how high would it be?

I can't remember what the exact number was, but it was quite high. About 300 metres if I recall correctly.

I never knew maths would bring me a small amount of happiness.

I really should stop starting sentences with "I".

Title: Bung Ole Never Ending Thread: Turbo Super Version Alpha 6.34
Post by: Newts on March 04, 2006, 12:24:37 pm
Here's my first attempt at calculating a "potato tolerance level." Note it's not a quantity of potatoes you can eat without feeling ill, but rather a value which determines a threshold, if you like.

Pv - volume of potato in grams.
C - quantity of condiments, drinks or other accompaniments in ml.
X - natural taste for potatoes expressed as an integer between 0 and 10.
A - quality of potato as an integer between 1 and 10.
E - how well the potato is cooked expressed as an integer between 0 and 10 (integer is my favourite mathematical term)
T - temperature of potato in ?C.

Remember I'm not a mathematician or a scientist, so these will all be wrong. Still, it's only a bit of fun.

PT = (X (AE x square root T) + C) / Pv

For example, a small quantity of well-cooked potatoes will result in a very high tolerance level, but a large quantity of poorly-cooked, mostly unaccompanied potatoes will leave you with a very low potato tolerance level.

I think we could also use this formula to determine:

The optimum temperature for potatoes to be served;
The perfect accompaniment, e.g. cheese, butter, tuna or other filling;
How much of each accompaniment is required to give you the highest possible PT without overpowering the potato.

There is much research to be done in the field of potato tolerance.

I had a very weird dream.

I cut my arm off.

My arm was .. well, sort of frozen.  Sort of?  Yeah .. . the blood didn't come pouring out.  My arm wasn't cold though, but it was solid and numb right at the place I cut it off.

Also I think I cut it off quite easily, with like a knife or something, the bone didn't seem to matter hah!

So I jumped in the shower and like a meat popsicle, the blood very slowly thawed and ran with the water.  I then cut off my tongue.  Not quite totally - it was still joined a little bit on one side.

Getting worried about how the stump of my arm was thawing, I got out of the shower and went and grabbed my arm with the other hand, it too was thawing, oh no!
Asking this maternal figure there to take me to the Accident and Emergency center she simply looked at me and said "oh no it's been 15 minutes already there's no way they can re-attach it now."
I got quite upset trying to tell her I could still ghost feel my hand so I must be able to re-attach it, however my tongue was cut off, so I couldn't get the message across.
The distress got higher and higher as she denied me a couple more times and then I woke up, telling myself never to cut off my arm.

Dear Newts,

I think you are a smashing guy and you make me laugh all the time.  You must be a good teacher, I don't see how someone who cares so much and has so much talent couldn't be.  Please don't give up on it, teachers are our most valuable asset aside from the children themselves.  Every teacher brings something unique with them, figure out what yours is and exploit it, because kids could do without sheeplike tendencies.
Lastly and most importantly, I want to make an offer that you leave the classroom between 2 and 2:30 pm tomorrow afternoon to do some photocopying.  Sean will bring the pipe of justice and I will bring the keyboard of doom and you won't have to worry about the troublemakers for at least a week until they get out of hospital.

ps: if you haven't seen Dead Poets Society, be careful, you could end up crying again.

My knee. . .hurts.

Today is Friday at 3pm.
On Sunday night I stayed up all night to work, and then I went to my mates place to watch Barcelona vs Arsenal.  I caught the bus, and had to run to get it.  I think perhaps this was when I hurt my knee.  I  can't really tell because it didn't actually hurt.  Being overtired and running is the closest I can think of, you see by the time I had gotten home, had a sleep and woken up, my knee was hurting just a little bit.
Kind of like... a small bruise under the knee cap.  It only bothered me going down stairs and then it was only caused a nudge of pain, so I favoured my other leg.
I didn't go for a run that day, however I did go for a 30 minute walk, the rest of the day I would have been sitting or sleeping.  No real issues, just the stair thing.
Tuesday my knee was a little worse, I had a similar walk but this time I had to hurry, hurrying made it hurt.  wincing pain.
Playing a bit of hacky sack my knee didn't hurt at all that i noticed.  It seems to be when I bend it and apply weight at a certain angle, which I was careful not to do.
Wednesday I was limping down the stairs.  Another 30 minute walk, no real trouble, but I could feel the pain there walking just a little bit.
Thursday I was trying to keep weight off my foot.  Walking around the house made it feel sore, like a bruise under my knee was getting roughed up by it.  No walks/runs.
Today it has been 48 hours since I went for a walk on wednesday, and it's FAR FAR worse.
I woke up and it hurt straightening my leg in bed.
I can't get across the room without fear of futher damaging it, so i'm using furniture as crutches(which is rather fun I have to admit).

Now it seems almost as if whatever holds my knee together isn't doing it's job properly.  I have been able to stand on my own a couple of times today, but walking makes me feel like my knee will collapse the wrong way(an ugly thought).

How can this happen?  How can my knee have become worse over the last 48 hours when I've either been sleeping or sitting at my computer?

Nothing in my environment has changed from normal.  Perhaps I need to change the angle of my computer chair so my leg is straight until it gets better?

Moreover: if it gets so bad I can't get from the house to a taxi, am I allowed to call an ambulance?  :D

I'm lucky I work for myself because I'm pretty sure my boss wouldn't buy the fact my knee magically has gotten worse by sitting around.

Thanks mate!  I did indeed take a look at that.

I was worrying quite a bit about my ligament by the end of it.

However I have good news.  My stubborn nature paid off and my knee miraculously improved.  Now it's at the stage where I can walk around without any worries.  I'm still taking care on the stairs and not doing any running until it's 100%, but at least I am mobile.

No idea how it got worse, no idea how it got better.

Also, as if I would click a link called "A Sticky Night of Love" recommended by a Dutchie :newtstongue:

I'm growing my own at the moment.  Will make my new avatar in another week or so when they have filled out.

I didn't even notice I was a shining afro.  Wow how does it look on me?  Is my hair on fire, or do I have a kind of halo?

Detective work is hard and dirty.
Someone perpetrates a crime.  You question them and they say they didn't do it.  You know for sure the person was wearing their baseball cap at the time, but they say their baseball cap was stolen last week.  You get to check their house immediately and it definitely isn't there.
Now the key to this crime. . . they steal all the time.  Every day they go into a supermarket 2 or 3 times and nick off with some chocolate bars every time.  They tell you their story and they say they went into the supermarket twice that day, and manage to tell you the time you caught them - they never went in.

I hope you're following me - I know it doesnt' make _that_ much sense.. but it's a metaphor for another crime which is much much harder to explain.

umm.  yeah.  that's where I'm at.  Stuck.

I thought you were discussing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney on the DS, which is a top game. In fact, it's my vote for this year's Golden Joysticks, which can be voted for here - www.goldenjoysticks.com. However, please don't read the whole list of nominees because some will make you cry. My favourite nominee is Billy Hatcher for "Game of the Year" - err, it came out three years ago.

Sonic isn't even nominated for Favourite Character, but Shadow is.

HARA-KIRI.

I'm going to several places in the countries I listed... and yet in the countries that contain amsterdam and prague, I'm only going to amsterdam and prague.  (Innsbruck) and (Seoul) should be there too, but I'm only in those places for 24 hours awaiting further transport.

Hahha, thanks guys :)

I'm in San Sebastian right at this moment, we will probably head through france for the next.. 5 days, and then on a train to Amsterdam around the 23rd.  Will be leaving amsterdam on the 28th.  A bit different than I originally thought, but yeah.. things change as you travel!

Will be staying pretty much in the center of Amsterdam and yes, it would be great to meet and help the wheel turn.

my alias at gmail.com is the best email to get me on.. i dont know if i will be able to check this website again, but definitely will be checking that email every couple of days.

Anyways, I've not done anything Shining for a long time. Even SFC seems to have frozen all the time i've been away :P

Yeah, you can. It's a bit temperamental, i.e. the servers are pretty slow, but with some perseverance you can get a decent game.

My username on it is JamesProsody. When you get online give me a shout and we'll match skills, although as it's laggy as hell I doubt it'll be a fair game!
