Title: More news on the upcoming Shining games! Post by: nuckles87 on April 29, 2004, 08:03:55 pm It has recently been revealed on the front banner of the currently under construction site, Shining World (which appears to have been taken down) that two next gen Shining games are in development: Shining Force and Shining Tears. Both games are currently scheduled for release on PS2 only.
Shining Force will be in the vein of the past strategy based Shining Force games, and will be released in 2005. Shining Tears however, will be an action RPG (not an MMORPG, like I had speculated before this info was available), like the GBA's not so famed Shining Soul games. Shining Tears will be released in the fall of 2004. Couple that with the GBA's upcoming Shining Soul and Shining Force sequels, it looks like Sega is bringing back the Shining series in full force. The two PS2 games will be developed by none other than Sega's Amusement Vision (now composed mainly of Smilebit staff, since Sega's game studio restructuring), of Super Monkey Ball and Panzer Dragoon Orta fame. So looks like there won't be any MMORPGs based on SF. We will have more info on these games as it becomes available. Title: More news on the upcoming Shining games! Post by: Noma89 on April 30, 2004, 02:41:32 am I saw the screenshots posted on the SFC boards, and I have to say it looks decent, though I could hardly make out any of the visuals besides some of the character sprites and some character pics. This was for Shining Tears, by the way. As they said there, it doesnt look all that "shiny".

Updated SFW with the links etc :) The screenshots of Shining Tears look excellent, and seeing as the third game seems to simply be called "Shining Force" one would guess that the SF battle system will feature here. Shining Tears is good news as well, the Shining series has been experimented with alot and its good to see one series take on so many forms, STHA and SW were good games to lead up to SF3.
