Title: New batlle action type (give turn)
Post by: Elvenfyre on January 19, 2008, 10:42:59 am
What about this as a modification to the shining engine:

When you are already standing next to another force member at the start of your turn, you can choose to "give your turn" to them, .. kind of like motivating them or giving them your energy.  You can't move or attack or use any item or else you cannot do this action for that turn, so it would only be useful with careful planning or emergency gamble situations.
Once you give the other member your turn, focus immediately swaps to them and they now act as if they have full movement/action capability they would normally have on their turn.

Applications:
players surrounding a boss could be given more attack turns by those on the very outside.
If a unit has slow movement on a certain terrain you could help them along with a flying unit giving them a turn every now and then.
A unit has already has it's turn but all of a sudden is becoming the focus of AI attacks, and the healer can't heal them enough, if standing beside the unit already could just grant a turn for the unit to get out of there.

Thoughts?

Hmm, that's an interesting idea. Because you still have to take a turn to move a character next to another one it reduces the potential for abuse. There's also magic spells that hid adjacent characters, so moving next to a character makes you both more vulnerable.
