Title: In what language were the original Shining Force games coded?
Post by: Aura4 on September 22, 2008, 03:53:06 pm
I recall reading many years ago that in the 16 bit era video games were coded in Assembler, but this source may not be reliable. Shining Force seems complex enough to make coding it in Assembler difficult. So I wonder in what language it was really programmed.

From what I can recall all genesis games were coded in Assembly?  I don't know to be honest.

According to http://romhustler.net/roms/saturn Sega Saturn games were mostly coded in C, but that doesn't say anything about Mega Drive games.

From what I've found, they could either be coded in C or assembler. It wasn't uncommon for older games to be coded purely in assembler, so it wouldn't surprise me.
