1   Saturn emulation
As you had a talk about Saturn games recently I thought I might direct the attention two the two saturn emulators that are avaible at the moment.

Satourne (http://satourne.consollection.com/) 2.0 will be released soon and it looks really promising... can't wait to hear if SF3 will be playable (which would enforce a major speed up but we'll see).

Als Yabause (http://yabause.sourceforge.net/) looks promising as it  evolves rather fast. Next to that they have a nice april fools day joke on their website (http://yabause.sourceforge.net/screenshots.php).

As the Sega emulator did already a fine job I'm really looking forward to these two and hopefully we will get an emulator capable of SF3 this year.

Last but not least as I am talking about emulators I should also add the URL of chankast - the only avaible DC emulator - http://www.chanka.org/

Its only because I'm in the military. I get so much more shit because of it.

I leave websites because of this retardedness.

I can understand that this kind of discussion gets even harder when your a soldier yourself. I mean it is your job to fight and things look even more different when people start to shoot at you.

Maybe I'll try to break things down a bit:

Since the end of the cold war US is trying to find the right behavior as the most powerful nation. Till now IMHO they failed to do it because they tend to do things at the wrong time out of the wrong reasons:

I mean conquering Iraq is a good thing. But it was done at the wrong time (Hussein actually being in a weak position giving in to the united nations), out of the wrong reasons (WMD never exist) against the law of the united nations (an unjustified attack war) and without the necessary preparations considering many of the vids from short after the wars end till now the forces weren't prepared to take police authorites and weren't accustomed to local customs. All of these things increased the already existing hate against Americans especially in the arabian world which again will increase terrorism.

On the other hand nowadays we are waiting for the next war - against Iran while North Korea may do whatever they want to do because of the fact that they have atomic bombs.

A bunch of other issues had also a negative impact on the image of the US like
- Gun laws (anybody who saw bowling for columbine will notice that many insane persons in the US carry even automatic guns)
- lack of democracy (unbalanced media, first election of GWB,...)
- there is the UN court for war crimes in the netherlands and GWB even warned them not to accuse any American citizen or else they would invade the netherlands.... insane but true

So it's no wonder that even non-fanatic people start to have problems with the US.

Well Kusgam and to answer you're first post:
THEY COULD AVOID ALL OF THIS IF AND ONLY IF THEY WOULD STICK TO THE UN CHARTA
Simple as this - a organisation which was even founded by the US and which is always abandoned if it doesn't act like the US wants it act (like war against Iraq) and which is always reclaimed once they need it (like nowadays for rebuilding Iraq). I mean  if a friend of you would be have this way you would tell him to go fuck himself. But if they would stick to the UN as "THE" world organisation - who can doubt what the entire world decided?
Even if one would say that the UN is too big for fast decision it is quite weird that even the NATO couldn't agree onto the war on Iraq. Why do we have such organisations if they aren't used....

3   Hello again, it's been a while.
Hey Kusgam!
Haven't seen you for a long time dude! Especially not at YOB. Hope you'll be able to stay around for some time. Is ninja like gaming back up?

4   Shining Force is No More!
Well it"s christmas so wonder might happen  Cheesy
I never removed that from my christmas whishlist....

5   Land Effect Revived
I"m not sure if it"s suitable  but IMHO does values should be heavily influenced by the character class of the combatants:
Like flying creatures don"t get a movement malus, but a heavier decrease in woods.

Next to that a question could be if one shouldn"t distinguish between attack and defense:
e.g. it"s easier to attack on roads but much harder to defend.

Besides does ideas I think the overall behavior is quite "realistic" or rather playable :-)

As long as there's light there ist still hope....

7   uh-oh? PHPbb worm
SF:TA board had been hit by a worm a month ago which destroyed quite a bunch of stuff and added some weird users (bout 50). Had to reinstall the whole forum as we can't update currently (newer version doesn't work for Produn...)

8   Shining Force - Resurrection of the Black Dragon
Well Newts your are right the issues are minor and don't change the fact that it is a great game. As I said I even think many new stuff works well and if I have  choice I would even prefer the remake to the original.

*hides behind a barrel to avoid getting beaten*

Nevertheless even minor issues can kill a game like for me the first Vampire the Masquerade sucked due to the fact that I didn't get along with the controls very well - it's not a big thing but it destroyed the fun.

Next to that I think we see a trend in the behavior of SEGA - probably caused by the fact that they lack money AND that the DC which had pretty unique games didn't sell well - are dropping uniqueness for mainstream behavior.
Think of the remakes, this card thing, the new SF being no Round based strategy game etc.  I'm not sure if that will help them sell games but for sure it will cause them produce worse games than they could do.

SF was originally meant to be a simulation/strategy RPG like the original Shining Force. However, the team felt it wouldn't be enough to just remake the original into 3D. At first, they considered making the game a real time strategy game.

I don't believe there is hope for a real SF game - if they even WANTED to do that but decided not to the other team is probably working for on sth completely different.

Nevertheless I strongly believe in our projects  Cheesy

. I'm not sure quite what bEn means when he says "it's a shame Sega go that mainstream" - putting cards in a Mega Drive remake is mainstream? Have you even seen Sega Supserstars? Sega have to make mainstream games these days just to survive, and if that means more people buy and play and enjoy SF:RotDD then I'm all for it.

Yeah you got me wrong. What I meant with mainstream is again this kinda namedropping (just now it is featuredropping) - what is the card feature good for - in fact not much. It doesn't even fit well to the overall scenario. It's just that they wanted to get all those freaks that will think that this is the next Yu GI Oh ....  well maybe the even sadder thing is that in press this has been boosted to a major feature....

Next to that going mainstream doesn't mean that this will do any good to the company as it'll lose those edges that make it special. Look at eidos - they were number one with Tomb Raider but as they have gone completely mainstream they lost the race in the long run. Same counts for Looking Glass (they tried to survive with Thief 2 which was just a rip off of the original). On the other hand the absolutely non mainstream Jagged Alliance series kept Sir Tech alive - sadly they lacked any other good game so they lost anyway in the end.

12   Shining Force - Resurrection of the Black Dragon
Well the new version ain't that bad - the new Graphics are Ok - I guess we can agree on the fact that they needed improvement tho the new style can be discussed.  The new battles are really cool and the new story sideline aswell. The card stuff is IMHO useless and doesn't fit into the universe but thanx to Magic:The Gathering, Duell Masters,  Yu Gi ....and all that crap it was unavoidable. It's a shame that companies like SEGA go that far mainstream. But the same can be said about the new PS2 Shining Force game....  Already before we know if it's a good or a bad game we can state that it's a shameless piece of namedropping.

Au contraire my friend. What if we live in beer instead of water? Of course we'd have reduced visibility, but we also have enough beer for everyone Cheesy

That would be heaven on earth. Next to that - why should one eat as long as we have beer? Reminds me of the Queen Song:
"This world could be heaven for everyone"

BTW Netwts - where can I get these goggles? I think they would be perfect for my "Beer formed this delicious body" shirt......

..and if you don't have a bottle opener (according to Murphy's law you never have one when you need one) you can use a bunch of other tools to open the bottle:
-another bottle
-the fridge
-you're girlfriends manolo blanik (or however you write that) high heels
-the remote control
-your teeth
............

15   burp
Well as I can tell you after my year in the army:
The cheapest and less painful way to solve that issue is to buy more soap.
Soap is cheap......
