You can NEVER have to much jam.

In any case, good luck.

2   Re: Because everyone probably forgot a long time ago...
It was pretty funny at points.  Who wrote it?

4   SF2 Remake Code
I noticed GlaphanKing is working on making the code into an editor.  I don't mean to offend him in any way, but it often goes that people tend to drop their projects before completion.  I don't think this will happen, with him, as he seems to be doing quite well though his last update was a few months ago.  I really do hope he finishes, as it would be the first major breakthrough in an editor since BABS.

In the mean time, I'm also going to play with the code some.  My knowledge is limited, but I think I can get somewhere with it, especially since the base code is there and much of the actual battle coding is done.  I tend to be very good at learning along the way how to use what, especially if I have base code to use 'context clues',  so to speak, and help me along.

I'm more or less going to try and finish what Aura4 started, rather than make it my mission to create an editor.  I think I may switch to making an SF1 remake, though.  I'd like to see the AI of that game improved, and SF2's AI was a major improvement, though it still wasn't perfect.  This will also allow me to rip graphics for tiles for TRAP, as I can use them for the remake also.  If I do end up getting far with this, then maybe I'll change it into an editor, that is, if GlaphanKing doesn't finish first Wink

5   Re: T.R.A.P.
=O  I hadn't seen that at all.  This could be very helpful, actually.  Thanks much. =]

6   Re: T.R.A.P.
If originals are a preference, I haven't ripped much that it'd be a problem to start over again.  Actually, the originals are much easier to rip so it'll save me time in the long run.

On an off topic note, thanks for relinking SFR.  I appreciate it.

7   T.R.A.P.
I've been kind of bored lately.  Working on Shining Forever is a little slow currently, and I need something to work on in between to keep me busy.  I was thinking I could rip tiles from SF1, as it seems there are only SF2 and FC tilesets.

I'll post updates here on how I'm doing.  I had a project running parallel to Bowie Online a while back that I needed the SF1 tiles for, so I already have a decent amount ripped from Guardiana.  They're in Kreed.  Do people prefer the original tiles or Kreed tiles?  I guess I could do both, time willing.

Ty, should I send them to you in parts or would it be easier to just send you an entire tileset as one image when I'm done?  If I don't end up finishing this, I think it'd be better to send them separately so that when and if I stop, I don't send an incomplete set.  Let me know what'd be easier for you.

8   Re: A sad day
Good to see you back around Smiley Funnily enough, just the other day someone left a comment about Bowie Online. Looks like you guys are still popular.

p.s. The new Shining Forever is looking good Wink

Ah thanks.  I'm surprised you saw it so fast, lol.  I linked to you guys, as I've always considered you one of the better Shining sites, even if the forums aren't super popular.

9   Re: A sad day
Speaking of nostalgia, I remember back in high school I used to visit Ye Olde Blah daily, if not several times a day.  It's been a while since I've been here.

Hi, btw =P

10   Re: The Big TSS Checklist - Part 2
Just stopping in to say hi, I haven't been here in ages.  Good to see the place is still doing well.  I miss this place a lot.  I remember when it used to be my days mission to visit these forums.

I like the new site a lot.  I'd like to just point out that on the sprites page there's a small error where Amon is listed as Arthur.  Just thought I'd let someone know to fix it.

Otherwise, nice to see everyone again.  Hopefully I'll be visiting more often.

11   Ideas for articles
I may try to write up some 2d graphics articles, maybe some graphic rip process and the like if I have time.

I don't think we have enough musical composition articles either.  They're just as important as anything else.

Quote from: "Ty"
* Perceived lack of time -- I actually have quite a lot of spare time, but I seem to be better at devoting it to playing games and dossing instead of working on something constructive.
 * Perfectionism -- My biggest problem, which manifests itself in many ways. For example, instead of slapping together a quick map maker, I have to write a full GUI system under the guise that it will "save time later". It clearly won't.
 * Lack of concentration -- I'll work on a project intensely for a few hours, and then I'll forget about it for weeks. I'm guessing most of us have this particular problem.
 * Lack of confidence -- Let's talk about feelings Tongue I haven't completed a demo for what seems like an age, and even though I think I'm a better programmer I seem to be producing a lot less. Almost certainly related to my perfectionist tendencies.

Possible solutions:
 * Better time management -- Something I'm constantly working on, but it still has a long way to go. Scheduling some TSS / Shining Online time into my timetable might help.
 * Agile Methodology -- I've never written software using agile techniques, and I think it might work quite nicely. Instead of trying to create one perfect demo, I'd release lots of smaller ones on a regular basis. This would probably help with most of the problems I face, and would certainly help with my lack of concentration, confidence and my perfectionism.
 * More public updates -- Perhaps making myself more accountable would help, even if it's just the the handful of people that visit Blah.

You have no idea how right you are, especially about what the problems are exactly.  I go through the same thing every day for multiple projects and it just gets frustrating after a while, and I go into the 'I don't care anymore' mode, and its onto videogames and web browsing for days without even looking at the things I should be working on.

I also have the perfectionist problem.  With Shining Forever especially.  Its a solo project 2 years in the making and Im not were near done because I dont want any help, mainly because I fear someone will just have me cleaning up their messes and giving me more work in the long run.  The same applies for anything I try to run or work on, really. -_-

13   What makes you really angry?
Quote from: "Devlyn"
The fact that I do too many things at the same time to finish any of them Tongue.

Exactly.

15   Concept Art -- Opinions?
Silly of me not to see this topic earlier.

You're artist is great.  My computer drawing skills are quite lower than anything that well done.

I'm better with good ol graphite Wink
