TRAP - a call for help!
Hi everyone,

TRAP is the acronym for TSS Resource Accumulation Project, and is a collection of free-to-use resources for Shining projects. There are currently three TRAP downloads, and with your help, we'd like to boost that considerably.

We're currently accepting all submissions for sprites and tiles in 24*24 or 48*48 size. Anything will be very gratefully received, but here are some suggestions that are always in demand:

Trees, grass tiles, flowers and assorted outdoor stuff (rocks too);
Houses, wells and other town stuff;
Statues of yourself or things which deserve to be commemorated;
Sprites of any character kind in four directions, two frames per side.

Anything else you can come up with would be most heartily welcomed, of course.

Please save your creations in .bmp format, compress them using WinZip or WinRAR and email them to devlyn@zonnet.nl or ty@shiningsource.org, and we'll put them in the TRAP vault for anyone to use in their own project.

Thanks!

As soon as I'm back in Amsterdam I'll gather up all of Peter's Battle backgrounds and put those up Smiley.

Yeah I've posted mine as you see.  I might spend some time on some 48x48 stuff later on in september, but for now I think I'll focus on those articles I was talking about, and keep working on learning more java stuff.

On a side note it keeps occurring to me I should go back to the blaxxun VRML stuff and try my hand at some player models in a particular setting to use as hype and site graphics.  I guess we'll see what happens.

Can some of these be your own works or must they only be SF tiles and the like?

They can be anything you feel could work towards any shining style project.

So for example someone may make sprites in a 3D studio program, and can upload these to be used, and Peter might grab them to use inside his 3D shining style game...

I mean basically it can be anything right : )
Any resource at all you don't mind seeing turn up anywhere at all is a safe way to think about it.

Ashitaka, download my sprite pack from TRAP in the main site, and take a look at the sizes for character sprites and battle sprites.
The size for character sprites is unchangeable, but battle sprites have a little more size wiggle-room.

as for what type of sprite, well do what you find easiest first of all.
I only need 1 more graphic for the campaign I'm working on at the moment, it's a battle animation for a were-monster. . . it's a grey coloured beast sort of like a werewolf but with more of a bear quality to it.

all of mine are from the side so that they can be flipped by java .. so from the side would be preferable
