Everything that goes in a Shining project
Shining Force is relatively simple, but a lot of stuff goes into the game engine. Here's what I've thought of so far (tired so probably missed a lot):

* Introduction:
 * Title Screen
 * Save select intro
 * Save management (delete / load)
 * New game screen (+ introductory cut-scene on game entry)
* Towns:
 * Animated tiles
 * Animated objects
 * Walking around
 * Collision with buildings/trees/objects
 * Collision with NPC's (they may be moving around)
 * Treasure chests
 * Book shelves
 * Inspectable pots, crates, barrels, cupboards etc
 * Walking NPC's
 * Talking to NPC's (may need to access game state/story progression to show certain text)
 * Picking up items
 * Shops
  * Item (weapons, items or armour) shop
   * Sell Item
   * Buy Item (and optionally equip / sell old item)
   * Repair equipment
   * Deals section
  * Smithy
  * Church
   * Cure poison
   * Remove curse
   * Promote character
   * Resurrect character
   * Save game
  * GHQ
   * Advice
   * Transfer items
   * Transfer characters
 * Cut scenes
  * Changing the music
  * Playing sounds
  * Moving characters/objects/whatever around
  * Shaking the screen
  * Fading the screen
  * Displaying text
  * Changing to a different map
  * Small animated spell effects
* Battles
 * Damage calculation
 * Darkness (e.g. in a cave)
 * Cut scenes
 * Spawning enemies when certain areas reached
 * Pathfinding AI
 * Decision making AI
 * Movement area

 * Fight cut scenes

 * Support/Status effects

  * "Support" (BOOST) spell

character stuff.  classes, levelling, stats, promotion etc.
does priest/shop stuff go somewhere there?

The following things come in my mind:

* Battles
  * Support/Status effects
    * "BOOST" spell
    * "SLOW" spell
    * "SLEEP" spell
  * Darkness (e.g. in caves)

Cheers Aura4, I've updated the list again (I think Boost is the same as SF3's "Support" spell).
