I just finished a 48 hour Game Jam, and actually got something finished. The theme was "Metamorphosis", so I picked a familiar RPG and worked on that. It's the first game I've made in Flash, so I'm pleased that it actually works.
Anyways, you can play it here: Monster Mash

so i found some of the tricks
and got to the end, but i don't think it was the good ending? not sure on this one!
lovely game, please make another one! no need to add more features, just slightly different opponents and a map would do to keep me going

I've got a few things left to add based on suggestions I've had, but otherwise I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. There's about 5 different endings I think, depending on how you evolved. Glad you like it I still can't believe I got it all done in 2 days.

well done, 2 days, excellent
I wouldn't want to critique it, that might just slow down the release of the next land
It's fun, and definitely challenging at first. I can't seem to get any other than 2 endings, but will keep working on it.
trying desperatey to find a way to get my guy to equip the pipe of justice.

Updated it to the latest version. Gameplay is slightly tweaked, and fixed a few little glitches here and there. I might put equipment in the next version (just armour + a weapon), along with the other mutations I wanted. If nothing else, I'd like different enemies in the caves & forest.
The (very messy) source code is available here: monster_mash-src-1.1.19.tar.gz.
I used FlashDevelop and Flixel, which are both awesome

Good on you Ty.
Will have to mess around with the source some time.

Re: I actually finished a game
Thanks I keep thinking I should polish it up a little and release it to a wider audience. I've done two more game jams since then. Once game is a shooter called "Psycho Bean", and the other is a (really crappy) robot strategy game called "Ineptia". You can play them both here: http://lab.sodaware.net/game-jams/
I find the short duration for these contests challenging, especially as coming up with an idea for the theme can be difficult. However, it does mean I have to cut out all the useless bits and concentrate on making something fun. That doesn't always work, of course Still, it gives me a chance to try out new techniques for doing stuff.

The Monster Mash game is well made, but too hard. Gonna take a look at the other games. I also participated in a game dev compo recently, Ludum Dare 48. My game is available here (binaries: http://www.hugi.scene.org/adok/miscellaneous/evolution.zip, source code: http://www.hugi.scene.org/adok/miscellaneous/evolution_source.zip).

Nice one, I'll give it a try! Ineptia was my entry for LD#23. I wanted to enter Ludum Dare 24, but had been working long hours on work-related projects and didn't really want to spend a full weekend working 18 hour days I'll almost certainly enter the next one though.
