Who here listens to power metal?

I was listening to a couple of power metal songs by DragonForce.
Good Lord, they are corny!
Amazing musical work, but lyrics are comical.
And Power metal should be banned really!
It causes hallucinations when listening on a discman.
You're taking a bus ride, and suddenly u see to be riding a dragon.
Next you see a bunch of hooligans and you want to destroy Evil!

And anyone saw Dragonforce concerts before? Holy Crap. They gestures they do is entirely funny! But i still like them anyway

Any other good Power Metal bands? I heard of Sonarta Artica and i've only heard their cover of Metallica's Fade2black.

Dragonforce is less than serious with their lyrics altogether. Then again, they even ripped a guitar solo from C64's Last Ninja

Sonata is certainly great. Their Metallica cover is decent, but the rest is much better . Other nice bands are Secret Sphere (1st two albums), Blind Guardian (especially the later albums), Power Quest (not very good, but much like DragonForce , Edenbridge and Dark Moor .

Excuse me for the double post, but the new album of Sonata is circling on Emule, even though it hasn't been released yet.

Thought it'd be worth mentioning .

I have the new Sonata Arctica album, but I cannot say I'm too impressed by it... don't get me wrong, it's a good album quality-wise but it all sounds more or less the same to me.

Does Nightwish qualify as power metal as well, or does the female voice ruin that?

Nah, Nightwish is Power Metal to me .

i think This could be some Quality Power Metal

Add soaring melodies with twin-guitar harmonisation till the point that it sounds like 100 guitars (seriously, dragonforce is unbelievable) and keyboard in the background and u have incredible power metal.

u covered the main aspect, which is cheesy lyrics
And yes, nightwish is power metal.

Is Iron Maiden Power Metal? They were considered heavy metal back then but when then now is considered Power Metal due the their theming of lyrics. But not sure tho. I know out of a 1000 songs, 999 sound the same.
