I'm giving YoB the kiss of life Tongue

One more screenshot - this is of the project page editor. The idea is you can add a bunch of blocks to your project page and drag them around. Boxes can be customized as well, so the gallery box can be set to show images only from certain galleries.

It's pretty similar to the dashboard customization, except everyone that visits the project page gets to see it. You can also customize the sidebar and create custom sub-pages (for character bios, maps etc). Still got a ways to go, but it's getting there.

Oh, and it also has an API for grabbing information from the site. So far you can get project info, news, downloads and images. The new Shining Online site will use the API to populate the news, worklogs and screenshot gallery, which is pretty neat.

I keep thinking about writing a really light web-based version of Shining Force and then testing that on a mobile device. I need more than 24 hours in a day Wink

79   Re: Bung Ole Ole Never Ending Thread - Vintage Classics Edition -
Is it just me or would SF style battles work really well on mobile platforms?

I still have most of the files from the early TSS, but no database backups from acmefiles. Good times on the Ikonboard Smiley

Here's a few more screenshots for you good folks.

The first is the project appearance page, which is used to set icons and banners etc. Nothing too spectacular, but it gives more control to project owners.

The next is of the fancy new file upload thingy. I wanted to make it easy for people to upload images, so it handles drag & drop. Some pages also allow multiple files to be dropped at the same time, such as the new "create a post" screen (coming soon!)

Finally there's the project commit history. It's a totally optional feature, but it can be set up to automatically add updates whenever a commit is made to Subversion (and eventually Git).

So yeah, I haven't forgotten you Blah Smiley

81   Re: Development on BABS has resumed
Awesome dude, glad to see things are still moving along Smiley

82   Re: Sneak Peek
Cheers mate Smiley Still lots to do, but it's getting there. Hopefully there should be something solid to show in the next month or so.

Here's the updated dashboard with "edit" mode enabled, so widgets can be dragged around and removed. There will be something similar for project pages, so people can choose to have a screenshot gallery, featured video or whatever else on their page.

83   Re: Sneak Peek
Still working on the upgrades Smiley Here's a look at the activity stream widget. You'll be able to stick one of these on your dashboard and project page. There will probably be a page on TSS to show all project updates too.

84   Re: Is anybody interested in playing a Shining Force style game?
No problem! Those bananas are really tough (or I just really suck Wink)

85   Re: Is anybody interested in playing a Shining Force style game?
Looks awesome! I'll make a post on the front page about it this week, so if there's anything you'd like me to mention let me know Smiley

Every time I do my 48-hour contests I think maybe I should just take a weekend or two to mock up a quick SF style battle using flash. I can't imagine it would be too difficult to get just a basic tech demo running and then build on that.

ELV Cheesy

Newts was pretty excited about working for Nintendo too Smiley He does online content for Nintendo Europe, like news on the website, info about games etc.

How's Android development? I keep thinking I should mess around with mobile stuff but never get the time. Will you be porting Shiny Sword? Wink

88   Re: Hello anybody still here?
You've been busy! How's life in the airforce? I remember Suckgas too (and Julian) ... been a long time.

Funny you should mention England - I moved to the USA in 2009, and I currently work as a freelance software developer. It's not as exciting as it sounds, and it sounds pretty damn boring. Newts moved to Germany in August to take a job at Nintendo, so we're all spread out now.

I still watch the England team, but let's face it, they won't be winning anything in my lifetime Sad

89   Re: Hello anybody still here?
Woah dude - long time no see! How's things?

90   Re: I actually finished a game
Nice one, I'll give it a try! Ineptia was my entry for LD#23. I wanted to enter Ludum Dare 24, but had been working long hours on work-related projects and didn't really want to spend a full weekend working 18 hour days Smiley I'll almost certainly enter the next one though.
