I heard some crushing criticisms from my date on it yesterday too. Is it true that they display the movie in order to force sensible information out of imprisoned terrorists?

Poor people Wink.

P.s. The Incredibles is rather cool Cheesy

Well I can understand that "I, Robot" isn't everybody's piece of cake - as the books it is based on we'ren't either. But as I like Isaac Assimovs novels and as I think the 3 Laws of robotics are one of the most interesting ideas ever.
Sadly they transformed the original detective story into an action movie there are quite some interesting ideas left.
Next to that IMHO the effects and the actual action is above average.

The real criticism is that the "twist" in the end (to avoid spoilers I just say "twinkle") is far to obvious and that in the end fight they borrowed too much from Matrix (no human can movie this way...).

According to "The Incredibles" - that was the biggest dissapointment ever to me. From my point of view it lacks jokes and reminds me of a saturday morning cartoon (e.g. like the Mask). Most jokes are even damn old (come on - "I'm too fat to wear my old belt" is even older than the mummies). The best thing about the incredibles is actually the suit designer - which is damn funny and the "interviews" in the beginning.

Actually... I liked I, Robot... the only thing that annoyed me is that it seemed to be a two-hour commercial. So many brands and such... not just casually showing it, but in full frontal!

I haven't seen "I, Robot" yet but from what I hear, I'm better off just reading the books.

Welcome around by the way kryceks. Hope you'll enjoy your stay here Smiley.

As for the Incredibles bEn, I actually liked it a lot but I find it both fun and interesting that you completely disagree Wink. I guess I can imagine people not finding it fun. Then again, I also think the impact of a particular movie has a lot to do with ones current state of mind.

For example, if a movie gets overly hyped, it is very likely bound to disappoint you and bore you to death. Then again, some completely unknown title may rock your day even though it's only mediocre. We human's are annoying critters Tongue.

Like Van Hellsing got hyped all to hell and then turned out to be a waste of 7 dollars. I really liked the direction the movie was going and the idea but it was poorly done. That's my opinion at least and then I have a few friends who enjoyed it.

But getting back on topic, from what I can tell the movie of Van Hellsing is totally different than the book as is "I, robot." I don't think you can really tell people not to watch it because others might enjoy the movie. Athough, I'll probably back off on the subject until I've actually seen the movie.

Oh yeah, and thanks for the welcoming, Devlyn! Smiley

Yeah I totally agree with you - the main reason why I don't like the incredibles that much is that I expected a better movie than "Finding Nemo" - which was fun but (like most CG movies) was mainly directed at children which caused certain well lame jokes - I experienced that as the little sister of a friend of mine watched the movie with us and she laughed at scenes I thought damn lame. In the previews they gave you the impression that this wouldn't be the case with the incredibles which ain't the case in my opinion. I would even say that Finding Nemo wase better movie.

Another thing - Van Helsing is one of the worst movies I ever saw. I went into it expected a nice movie and all you get is a piece of crap - like "Once upon in Mexico" there are some cool scenes but they just don't fit together.  The biggest dissapointment was Kate Beckinsale who played a formidable vampire in "Underworld".

The Incredibles was a letdown, where were the jokes? I wonder if Pixar forget the combination for the bike lock...

Any film that gets 5 stars in The Independent should be outstanding, don't know how they managed it :S Funny thing is all the new Christmas films: Polar Express: * , Christmas with the Kranks: *, Surviving Xmas: *, woo even Alfie got * the Independent is so harsh Cheesy

Insert pretentious signiture here.

If Van Helsing would have been a comedy it would have had a chance...

I mean come on in the end even Frankestein's monster pretends to be Spiderman. Frankenstein's monster again is the most useless character ever - be happy that you didn't see the german dubbed version (hopefully the original isn't as bad) the annoying "I wanna live screams" sounds so stupid...
I even don't understand why the effects are so bad - I mean for a 100 million dollar movie I would expect better ones.

Enough movie bashing... at least I'm happy that at least somebody has the same (bad) impression of "The Incredibles" ;-)
