Following the Basic series there is a program called Pure Basic www.purebasic.com that is good with 2d. But once I donwloaded it and didn't know how to do a thing. Their help file is not the best. But if you read it all through you may be able to learn something.

Great choice. The first "real" language I learned. If you are experienced with rpg maker, then the programming will be easy for you, since rpg maker may be crappy but it teaches you some great concepts of programming logic.

But there is a downside I forgot to mention: Dark Basic works like shit with 2d graphics. Or I'm not able to make it work fast with them. Anyway, a simple game i designed once took 2 seconds to refresh the screen. BUT I was a noob when I did that, so it could be that I simply fucked up the whole code.

I guess everyone saw "The Core" movie right? Or at least know what an EMF is?

Anyway, today at my biology class the teacher said something interesting. There is ONE place in earth where this EMF simply doesn't exists. It avoids the place. No EMF in that place. And I could never imagine where. In the Itaja? Valley... That's where my city and some others are located. Man I have no EMF here... And yet everything is normal. The scientists are dying to know why and what this is causing. They researched about the skin cancer, about the suicide rate(a town next to mine have the biggest suicide rate in the country), liquens(if that is their name in english) that should die with pollution are growing next to the main streets...

That sure is amazing. I wonder why the EMF avoid this place.

I'm entering a website project now, so I may have to give a time to the sf game, since this website if sucessful will make me one of the 20% most rich in brazil(yeah we suck)...

But continuing: I'm planning the array system right now, and it's coming out allright. I also started these programs do add/edit items, and they are also going well. No bugs so far. Phew.

Now about the storyline... Since I'm saying this will be a SF fan game. Do I need to make something similar to SF to be a SF fan game?? My storyline is totally different... Anyway the battle engine and the town searching will continue the same, despite of my wishes to make a turn based battle(your team first then the enemies).

Other people sometimes mention RPG Maker, and how it could be brought around to make an SF game...no idea about that, ive never tried it out myself.

Rpg Maker? Really? Even if you complete the whole custom battle engine, the game will still be like shit...

Now the first programming language i learned was Dark Basic. The help files that come with the program are absolutely amazing. But there a lot of other languages that you can find tutorials lying around every corner of the web. A great language for you to use(not sure it's a good one for beginners) it's C++. You can find C++ tutorials, books, everything. I myself do not know anything of C++, so I can't explain a thing.

And don't think I'm doing that for free! Yes, SF 3D(that's not the name) will be free, but I'll improve the engine so later I can make something sellable. Like the MMOTRPG I have been dreaming on. My motto is: If it's tactical, it's worth it.

ohhh sorry to off-topic but i needed to comment this... Thank you god for frying my computer! My computer had a Geforce2 with 32mb and 128mb ram ddr, a pentium 4 1,8ghz. Anyway, now it will get fixed this week, and I planned a major upgrade. A GeForce FX 256mb ram and 512 mb ddr isnt that great??? I wanted to upgrade more, but I'm not the one paying so i better stop now(it's my father, and he is angry)
