*is bored, so randomly hits refresh*
Hey, it's no worse than the people who've managed to make posts inbetween presses XD
Edit: Or the fact that an entire new page came into existance in the time it took me to write the above...

So, everytime I say the word "Spam," it's replaced with the word "bratwurst"?

3   SOnline
Well, so is  Spam.

You could probably protect yourself from vampire forum posts by wearing it around your neck.

Edit: getting round the censor  Tongue

So only posts that get up very late, and then go round drinking the blood of helpless maidens, will count?

You know, you'd be able to hide better if you weren't wearing bright green...

I completely agree about Squaresoft. It's been a long time since I last enjoyed a Squaresoft game.

Unlike Sega and Sammy, Enix wasn't so much a buy out as a merger though..?
Only time will tell if they are completely uneffected.

There's nothing particularly wrong with Shining Soul II on the GBA - it's rather like PSO in aspects I find, and would be even more so if you could play it online.

I think the frustration stems not so much from the fact that the new Shining games aren't as good as the old ones, and more from the fact they're more action than strategy-oriented - we Shining fans know what we like, and that's grid-based, turns-based battle systems.

Sega have themselves said it's unlikely they'll make another strategic Shining game, so this seems like the perfect chance to resurrect the best SF fangame ever Wink

Even so, the new games still aren't getting much attention from the press.
If I had the time I'd probably get one just to try it out.

At least the press seem to be giving the new ones the benifit of the doubt; there's one in 3D coming now, maybe that will get it some more attention from the media?

Heck, Omar's so eager you could be forgiven for thinking he was 10 people.

Best quote thus far

Although it makes me wonder about some of the guests...

Although knowing you, if you tried that, I know you'd do it so it was comical ^_^

A shame, I wonder if that's because of people just drifting to new things? Or would it be more active if Sega's recent attempts in the Shining universe were up to scratch?

I think it would be more active in that case, since the whole scene would attract more new and younger fans. We sort of miss out on those now, as Sega's latest games only attracts real action RPG freaks Tongue.

That's almost me actually... it's just the action SF games released keep getting poor reviews.
They're keeping on trying though, so if there's ever one that people like then you know that I'm going to get it ^_^

Get back to work bitch!  Tongue

I would say something like that as well, except I'm sneaking a minute off from work right now to post this XD

Chris - I used to get quite a lot of people talking to me about it on AIM and MSN, and through here. Mostly people that found links/did searches and all that. We had quite a big fanbase at the time, but the Shining scene has sort of displaced in recent times, so we're a bit thin on members at the moment. I'm sure a revitalised Shining Online would bring them back!

Chris, that's by far the most accurate and sensible post Ye Olde Blah has ever seen, and I salute you for it. We had quite a fanbase - on Demo 4 Launch Day, Seanikins awaited the release by occupying our chatroom for close to twelve hours, which is a gargantuan feat, really. It'd be worth completing just to repay some of his and Omar's faith and hope.

Trust me, it is worth it with any fanwork, even if you post it somewhere and forget about it.
I once had a complete stranger come up to me online and say "hey, you're the guy that wrote that PSO FAQ".

You'd be surprised the amount of times people will say, "I'm bored, give me something to do", see a link that someone has posted or get to your site via an internet search, and then bang, you've got another fan.

Hi
I'm not going to pretend that I've been lurking here for years (because I haven't) and I'm not going to pretend that I knew about this project before Omar and Newts meantioned it.

But I will say that I think it's a shame that any fan project stops when it has such an eager audience. Heck, Omar's so eager you could be forgiven for thinking he was 10 people.

If you don't make this, you just know he won't stop talking about it until you do.
Not that he would stop talking about it then either, but at least he'll be in a better mood.
