1   What do you want to be doing in a year?
I just want to get through college and start making more than spare change for an income.

2   Snatcher for Sega CD
I've owned quite a few Sega CD games but never bothered picking up Snatcher. From what I just read it was a very good game. Now I feel the need to grab a used copy and try it out (although i'd wager that it's rare because it was a good game).

3   I'm surprised nobody mentioned E3 here.
Thank you for your summary Newts. You basically highlighted all of the good highlights of E3 this year.

The impressive showing of the DS has me sold. As soon as I acquire the funds I will be purchasing the DS. Cheesy

4   I'm surprised nobody mentioned E3 here.
With E3 gone for about a week I thought the people here would be talking about it. Especially since there's an awesome Sonic game coming to the DS and the Nintendo Revolution will have complete backwards compatibility (it can play games from every Nintendo console through a download service). Cheesy

Two friends of mine went this year and brought some stuff back for me: A Mario Kart DS stylus, a Serious Sam II t-shirt, a Mage Night Apocalypse shirt, and a bunch of magazines.

Of all of the stuff from the new consoles, I am liking the Revolution and Xbox 360. When I finally get a job i'll definitely buy all three consoles though.

Any thoughts?

5   What's your life motto?
My life mottos change according to specific circumstances in my life. My current motto is currently "Get a job."

Yeah, I know I lack depth.

There is one phrase that sticks in my head though. It is a quote from National Lampoon's Van Wylder: "Never take life too seriously, you'll never make it out alive."

6   My Sega Saturn Games
Sorry, I mixed Croc with Frogger. I posted this early in the morning so my brain wasn't functioning correctly.

7   My Sega Saturn Games
Quote from: "Newts"
Good collection there dude - having Grandia just about atones for the sin of owning Road Rash, Jurassic Park and... eugh... Croc.

I need to get Grandia, I think. How about a swap for... say... my Premium Disc? Wink

Ah, but the catch is that these games:

Road Rash
Bootleg Sampler
Madden '97
Bottom of the 9th
Frank Thomas Big Hurt Baseball

Were given to me for free.

I doubt you'd even let me touch the SFIII Premium Disc let alone swap it.

I am still on the lookout for more Saturn games when my budget is available. I even almost had a mint condition copy of Albert Odyssey but I bid on it too late.

And I back what Newts says about Croc. It's the biggest piece of shit I have ever had the pain of playing. I managed to play until the second level, then I shut it off for the last time.

Edit: I mixed Croc with Frogger. I posted this early in the morning so my brain wasn't functioning correctly.

8   My Sega Saturn Games
I don't normally show off any of my collections, but seeing Newts post his Saturn collection in this thread has inspired me to do so as well:

Magic Knights Rayearth
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Croc
Megaman X4
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
NBA Jam
Die Hard Trilogy
Darius Gaiden
Command and Conquer
Daytona USA
Daytona USA: Championship Circuit Edition
Duke Nukem 3D
Fighting Vipers
Hexen
The Lost World: Jurassic Park
Pandemonium!
Panzer Dragoon
Resident Evil
Robotica
Sega Rally Championship
Shining Force III: Scenario 1
Sonic 3D
Sonic Jam
Sonic R
Street Fighter Alpha II
Virtua Fighter 2
Road Rash
Bootleg Sampler
Madden '97
Bottom of the 9th
Frank Thomas Big Hurt Baseball
Road Rash
Grandia (Import)
Shining: The Holy Ark (Import)
Slayers Royal (Import)

I would also order them and describe my impressions on each game, but that requires effort that I lack. Tongue

9   Dragon Force is coming to PS2 (56K Warning)
That's right folks. Dragon Force is coming to the PS2 in Japan as part of the Sega Ages collection. Here are some screenshots taken from here

10   Shining Force - Resurrection of the Black Dragon
I never like the name of max. That's why I renamed him to Synbios when I got the chance.

After beating the game about a week ago, I have one suggestion: Look EVERYWHERE for cards. In book shelves, in walls, and any other place you would suspect cards to be at.

11   Shining Force - Resurrection of the Black Dragon
I have one quick question before I get too far into the game (I'm at chapter 6 right now).

Will there be a battle that will require ALL of the characters that have joined my team to participate? No specifics please, I dont want to spoil the storyline. Smiley

12   Shining Force - Resurrection of the Black Dragon
I didn't know that this was a remake of the original Shining Force. The first SF I played was SFII. Thanks for the heads up guys. Smiley

13   Shining Force - Resurrection of the Black Dragon
Anyone played this game yet? I'm currently playing through chapter 2. I stopped at the mage city and am building my team up to be promoted.

In my opinion, the game is really neat. It has the good ole Shining Force feel that i've loved since SFII. I really like the music Sega managed to pull off on the GBA, although you can hear heavy compression with headphones on. I am also relieved that the main character actually speaks whole words instead of "..." on every line of dialogue in the SFIII scenarios.

The game does have its annoyances though. For one, Sega dumbed it down a bit. When the main character meets each new character, they always say something like "I am a <insert class here>. I like/dont like to be <in front or back> of the fight and I like to <insert skill here>." The game is assuming that players wont know a healer heals or an archer shoots things from a distance. The developers also instituted cards into the system which, to me, sounds ridiculous. I dont even know how they are used yet...

Anyone care to share their view of the game?

14   The Progress Quest Thread
I also run useful things in the background. In fact I am an active Folding at Home member (please go to link for details). Progress Quest takes up no CPU power and about 3.4-ish megs of RAM. I currently have the game running on my file server so that it is always on. Almost any other program takes up more resources than that.

15   The Progress Quest Thread
I've been using this little RPG prog for a couple of years now. It is a game that does everything for you, leaving you to reap the benefits (I think).

If you want to give it a run, go to this page and download it. I suggest starting a multiplayer character and joining F.U.B.A.R (Fairly Upscale Bachelors at the Ready), the guild I "run". To join a guild, press alt+G while the game is running. To view character stats as compared to everyone else, press alt+B.

The program takes next to no resources while running, so you can have it chug away in the background while you dont care.

Be sure to post your character's name and stats.
