Music is best when played live. So I wondered what was the best performance you ever saw and why?
For me there are two gigs I'll never forget:
The first is Blind Guardian on their "Nightfall in Middle Earth" tour. At that time Blind Guardian weren't as famous as they are now, their Nightfall album that should reach German top ten some month later was just released a week before the gig and I got on the first day. Few Bands can create such a tense atmosphere and even fewer have such an choir as audience. If you have the opportunity to listen to their live CD or DVD - the gig I'm talking about was at least twice as good.
Another gig that impressed me was Fear Factory at Dynamo Open Air '99. Since then I've never seen a band as compact and heavy as FF - they might the audience go crazy and turned the front of the audience (approx. 10.000 people) into a single moshpit while I tried crowd surfing - a hell of an appearance till I crashed on the floor due to the fact that people that jump around were unable to hold me... well I learned sth for my life.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra preforming Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No 9 at the Ravinia music festival
We thought we ended up with lawn seats but it turned out that we somehow were seventeen rows back from the stage in the ampitheater..it was very very cool.
Got to sit next to some rich fu-fu people

Embrace live at the Carling Academy in Manchester, October 1st 2004. It was the first time I'd ever seen them properly live (apart from a gig in a car park the week before), and they absolutely blew me away. Best night ever.

That's not Gerard Joling, right?
As for my best concert, high in the list are:
-The Sonata Arctica concert in early november in Vosselaar, Belgium. The venue only had 400 visitors and the singer had voice problems so everybody kept singling along with all the songs. Really brilliant
.
-Blind Guardian in Rijssen with the night of the opera tour. It was their first concert of the new tour, and the venue was extra small too. They did a brilliant job
.
-The Gathering in the Melkweg here in Amsterdam. Somehow they managed to produce a better sound quality than on the album

Were you in the front section back then or just outside of it? In the front section it was exceedingly relaxing and spatious really

I was in the front... I'd say about half-way between the front gates and the rear gates of it. Sunburnt as hell, too  .

Well a "friendly pit" doesn't mean that no "accidents" happen.....
Like the guy at an Iced Earth show who would smash every crowd surfer down to the ground. Usually the pit would have whooped his ass - at least if he hadn't been a 2 meter body builder...

LIVE was great !!!!!!!!
The only bad thing is, he came up like some ghetto pimp with sunglasses and a 50 kilo chain on his neck
He started rubbing his belly soon after. :x
But the noise was great, and me and my girfriend had a great time

Wow! What are the odds. I didn't think that with a Live concert you actually meant a LIVE concert O_O.
Still, I've seen them before too in 2000, and I must admit they were quite great then
. Paul and I even managed to hook up with some ladies during that concert (or something
).
