Do you have a phrase or proverb by which you live? Something you try to keep in mind to help you live your life?
Mine used to be this:
Don't just sit there and waste your precious time. When you want to do something, do it right away. Do it when you can. It's the only way to live a life without regrets.
These days it's more like this:
So what?
What's your life motto?
Edit: I will continue to make a new thread every day until my work is complete, or someone else does something interesting.

My lifes philosophies and thereof have changed many a time.
At first it used to be:
Kindness is the only greater reward
It remained something like that until i met the wonders of the juvenile elementary school crowd (ages 6-11)
after that it looked like this:
Shoot them first cause they'd do the same to you, when in doubt shoot them again.
These days my life's motto is like this:
Live every day as though it were your last, take every moment without regret and vice, make it your mission to aspire to make yourself a better man than you are for that is what it means to be alive.

Whenever there's something i'd like to buy that is rather expensive i use the old "you don't live forever", there's no counter argument to that.

You know, this is a really tough question. I used to have "I'm not dumb, I merely suffer from periodical intellect" but I'm sort of searching for a new one which is more applicable and silly
.
Something like... 'live your life as popcorn, or live it with popcorn'.
Or perhaps something entirely different

My life mottos change according to specific circumstances in my life. My current motto is currently "Get a job."
Yeah, I know I lack depth.
There is one phrase that sticks in my head though. It is a quote from National Lampoon's Van Wylder: "Never take life too seriously, you'll never make it out alive."

My motto?
I guess just be confident, don't let anyone put you down. No one else will believe in you unless you believe in yourself.
For many years I doubted my own ability, intelligence, and future. But since I took a more positive approach to life, life has taken a more positive approach to me. So it works I guess.

I'd say my motive is to be known when i'm dead. REally wanting to be an author, don't even mind not being very famous. I'd just be happy if one high school student picks up a book i've wrote and says "This is a really good author."
