I heard very little on the Shining Army front, and in fact the work on it was never publicly released.
Even if people here wanted to pick it up, it's not our game so we can't just 'steal' it without the developer's permisison. :/

thanks for replying devlyn, shame though that nothing can be done to carry on the project, as game developing is something i would like to look inot when i'm older, how difficult would it be to make a game similar to shining army, would i need to be a wiz with computers?
as of right now i no quite alot about computers and have quite a good imagination for developing, thanks.

Difficulty relates directly to ability.
To build from scratch, well...
Learn an object oriented language well enough so you can move a sprite around, and then you may have enough knowledge to answer the question for yourself.

I think that the difficulty of the project is what disencouraged the development team in the first place.
So basically, you do need to be a wiz with computers. In fact you need more than that, as programming a game takes a lot of spare time for example, and you might not be able to accomplish yourself.
I agree with what Elv says. First start simple. A good second step might be to help out with an existing project so that you can become more experienced about programming games

Hi gprman, good to have you around.
I looked through my emails and the site but couldn't find any contact address for Shining Wizard, who was working on Shining Army. If I find one I'll contact him/her and get the lowdown on the project.
Elv and Dev give good advice, but if you don't fancy learning a language then you could always use BABS to make your dream Shining game
Good luck!

thanks for the tips severyone, there very much appreciated
i'll have to look into it for a little while before i do anything, but even though i may not be a wiz, im sure ill soldier through and be able to come up with something in the near future, and as you all said i'll probably start small. also, devlyn, is there any chance of babs being abl;e to run on windows xp in the not too distant future, as at the moment there is nothing i can do because my computer will not run it, thanks

Euhmm... qprman, BABS was developed on Windows XP
.
You'll need to download & install the Java Runtime Environment though, which you can find at: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
It's the third item in the list, called "JRE 5.0 Update 3"
