The Shining Source

So when are we going to start writing it? We should set up some sort of plat here and some main characters and where it takes place is it scifi or a fantasy or what?

Good questions...the only thing I want to know is if we will be writing about Shining Force or are we just going to go crazy and write about anything.  That's what I want to know, that's it.

We're writing about SHF, but we still have to come up with our plot, chars, est..

I think the story should be somehow connected to SHF1 or 2.  I dont want to make it too complicated, like they did with SHF 1's connection to SHF 2.  In other words, our characters should have come in contact with the characters from either of the 2 games.  I haven't really played any games besides 1 and 2, so I'm not really filled in on the storyline and character connections of the games.

I think the story should be set before SHF2, but after SHF1.

My ideas for a plot:

1.) During a war, a team assembles to deliver a message to a kingdom ally, when they become caught up in the fighting.  They discover the plans of the enemy leader, and find that he is really a devil with the power to possess humans.

2.) A nomadic warrior meets a man during his travels, and they become good friends.  The traveler then learns his friend is not what he seems, and must try and stop him from unleashing a hellish devil.

3.) Before Volcanon and Mitula build the holy cities of Bedoe and Tristran, the world is put in danger.  After they try to combine they're powers to destroy the evil that looms of Parmecia, they are weakened, and must summon a group of warriors to finish the job.

These are just a few ideas, if you don't like any, I have LOADS more.  Trust me.

I say 3 right now, but I think you should put more because I don't have a very STRONG liking to this plot, but it is the best of the three.

Two sounds quitw good to me.

However with multiple authors theres somthing i must state that i see far too often. There cant be 5 characters that are the same. You know the tough silent guy that every amature author puts in. One of this type of guy is plenty not one for each writer.

I'm not the kind to make characters strong and silent.  Actually, the fic I did make, my main character is more quick than strong, and he voices his opinion.  He sometimes comes short of "having all the answers" just like the average person.

Anyway, I'm still trying to think of more ideas y'all can agree on.

EDIT - Ok, heres some more ideas.

1.) A huge army of strange men arrive outside of a large city, and set up camp.  When the king sends someone to confront the army, he is killed, and this sets the kingdom and the stange army against each other.  As the battle rages, several families manage to flee the kingdom as it burns to the ground.  A boy vows to return for revenge against the army that destroyed his home and killed his family, but finds returning to the kingdom will be harder than imagined...

2.) A girl returns home after going off to the city market, and finds her mother and father are missing.  When she realizes they've been kidnapped, and finds strange prints around her home, she tries to piece together the mystery of her missing family.  When she gets to close to the right answers, she finds that devils are watching her closely.

3.) When word hits Ribble that the newly built Granseal, on Grans Island, has been annihlated, a native a Grans hears about the event, and decides to investigate the destruction of his hometown.  But when he shows up at the rubble that was once Granseal, he finds a most unholy creature...

4.) Peace has protected Pacalon for hundreds of years after the water was restored by the Shining Force.  When the sudden lack of rain returns, the villagers become nervous, and the king sends a group of soldiers to visit Mitula's shrine in Tristan.  When the soldiers do not return, the king requests help from the king of the neaby kingdom.  He is sent a small band of youths who are ready to follow any order.

Not as good as the first 3, i think, but we can edit them if nessasary.  Also, don't be afraid to express your ideas ppl.  We need all the help we can get.

I say number 1 of the second batch of plots is the best of all 7 I think there was?  I believe I will be able to write most creatively on that topic.

Some ideas from me


1)Someone broke the seal and released Zeon. Zeon seeing the error of his ways after being defeated by Bowie revives dark dragon and forges an alliance. This is probibly 100 years after the events of SF2 or so.

2) Mass revolution has broken out and the rebels find themselves hard pushed and decimated. In a last ditch effort the revive Zeon to try and save themselves

3)to get offa the subject of Zeons rise Wierd happenings have been happening all around. Nothing major but monsters have been striking out against trading caravans and travalers have been dissapearnig.

Though maybe ditch the zeon ideas and swap them with another great demon of some sort so it dosent end up being a fanfic

My advise would be not to be too close to the original games meaning not to use Zeon.
Due to several reasons - it would sound like a bad sequel and would remind me of the typical fanfic - ya know this "Mulder meets scully tells her that he loves her and then they have great sex" ....
Would be different if you find a real reason why Zeon should return.

Nice ideas Phill, but like bEn said, I'm trying to stray slightly from the Shining Force storylines.  I just want a basic "relationship" with the setting to the Shining Force I/II setting to be generally close.  Here are a few more:

1.) After Zeon is resealed, the gods of the planet try to destroy the two jewels in oder to keep Zeon dorment.  When destroying them fails, Volcanon keeps the both jewels locked tightly within the soil under his shrine.  But when Polca and Bedoem are ruthlessly attacked by powerful devils, the volcano erupts out of Volcanon's anger, and the jewels are swept away by the flowing magma.  The man that finds them is not exactly virtuous.

2.) After Max escapes the sinking castle, he is washed up on the shores of a nearby city with Adam.  They live in the city until Max's death, with no memory of what happened in the battle against Dark Dragon.  Year's after his death, Adam's rusted and broken body is found by a boy, who decides to restore him.  Adam's memories are jolted during revival, and he tells the boy of what happened long ago.  But more happens to Adam then expected...

More to come.

I still believe that the plot about teh army outside of the town is still the best.  We should decide on one of the current plots instead of coming up with more...it will go on forever -_-

These are all of the plots.  I want to start a voting now, just write the number of the plot you think is best, and the votes will be tallied.  I hope you all know how the rest of this is going to go down with the voting and such.  After a plot is chosen, we shall start.  The poll will last for 4 days OR  until all people that are participating in this have voted.  Whichever comes first...I guess I will start us off with number 1.
