Hmm... I wonder if there are special instruments for picking up the soap without bending over. Like some sort of shovel or soap elevation device...

I searched Google for device for "picking up soap", and somehow managed to find some Buffy-Willow lesbian fan fiction, which I find slightly worrying, although a little amusing. I think what we need is a spear, with which we can pierce the soap and put it in our hands. However, taking a spear with you into the shower might be enough of a deterrent

you could attempt to treat the soap like a hacky sack...try to fling it up with your foot.
Or you could wait until you've got huge hemroids that are splitting open and bleeding..then bend down and pick it up without fear
