Heh, I should come back again when I get home and sign in properly...but until then...

Get back to work bitch!  Tongue

So if this gets up to 100 work resumes on an actually good SF project? Sweet.

A brief post before I get on to work - keep those replies and messages of support coming in, everyone. Shining Online will return if you make it.

Dev - made that topic on SFC yet?

Heck, Omar's so eager you could be forgiven for thinking he was 10 people.

Best quote thus far

A shame, I wonder if that's because of people just drifting to new things? Or would it be more active if Sega's recent attempts in the Shining universe were up to scratch?

I think it would be more active in that case, since the whole scene would attract more new and younger fans. We sort of miss out on those now, as Sega's latest games only attracts real action RPG freaks Tongue.

That's almost me actually... it's just the action SF games released keep getting poor reviews.
They're keeping on trying though, so if there's ever one that people like then you know that I'm going to get it ^_^

I would say something like that as well, except I'm sneaking a minute off from work right now to post this XD

I want to add my interest in this. Not played any of the SF games, but have been reliably informed they are ace and I am hunting them down.

Although it makes me wonder about some of the guests...

Although knowing you, if you tried that, I know you'd do it so it was comical ^_^

There's nothing particularly wrong with Shining Soul II on the GBA - it's rather like PSO in aspects I find, and would be even more so if you could play it online.

I think the frustration stems not so much from the fact that the new Shining games aren't as good as the old ones, and more from the fact they're more action than strategy-oriented - we Shining fans know what we like, and that's grid-based, turns-based battle systems.

Sega have themselves said it's unlikely they'll make another strategic Shining game, so this seems like the perfect chance to resurrect the best SF fangame ever Wink

Even so, the new games still aren't getting much attention from the press.
If I had the time I'd probably get one just to try it out.

At least the press seem to be giving the new ones the benifit of the doubt; there's one in 3D coming now, maybe that will get it some more attention from the media?

I don't know. Shining Force Neo has a somewhat interesting concept, but I'm not so sure if it's going to be as groundbreaking as some other console RPGs out there. It just doesn't sound original enough for that...

Devlyn

Great news for Shining fangame developers! Wink

I make it about sixty posts so far. Something like that.

As for the new Shining Force games getting much coverage, I've barely noticed any - because they skipped a generation, and the response from the Shining fanbase hasn't exactly been great, I don't think anyone's particularly interesting in Shining Force any more. I mean, there are more Shining games coming out than ever, but as it's not a series with a great reputation at the moment - unlike back in the 90s - nobody's really bothered.
