A lot of different parts go together to make up The Shining Source. The core of the site runs off WordPress, and the forums are powered by the SimpleMachines forum software.
WordPress Plugins
The following WordPress plugins are used to give the site its unique flavour:
- Akismet — Filters spam comments out. With the amount of spam comments that are thrown around these days, it’s impossible to blog without some form of protection.
- Breadcrumb Navigation XT — Handles breadcrumb navigation
- Fancy Excerpt — Generates post excerpts that are nicer than the standard WordPress ones.
- Get Custom Field Values — Makes it easy as pie to get custom values from posts and pages. This simple plugin makes it much, much easier to use WordPress as a CMS.
- Google Sitemap Generator — Automatically generates a Google sitemap, which makes us much more appetising to the Googlebot.
- Paged WordPress Comments — Adds support for paging comments on posts, which makes posts with many comments much easier to read.
