Interviews III

Finally, I’ll be interviewing DevelinTales and Grom, programmer and “creative person” respectively of the “Shining Force: The Awakening” development team, about what they hope to achieve with their hugely ambitious project.

I’m afraid this won’t be as good a post as the previous two, because I’m hugely tired, but I can recommend you check out the Shining Force: The Awakening website here, and read up on the game here. Although little has been seen of this project, the team seem talented and dedicated, so this is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Submit your questions here.

I’ll be around in about two weeks, so hopefully you’ll all have sent me lots of lovely questions to ask to all these lovely people about their lovely games. Lovely.

Keep the faith!

Interviews aplenty – part II

As I said yesterday, I’ll be doing lots of interviewing in the next month or so, interrogating some of the finest developers in Shining fangamery at the moment. Yesterday I gave a brief portrait of Acebloke, and today it’s the turn of everyone’s favourite lazy bum, er, Lazy Bum!

Lazy Bum – Shining Truth

One of the most multitalented fellows around at the moment, Lazy Bum’s skills encompass everything from music and game development to 3D modelling and interface design. His project, “Shining Truth”, is an isometric Shining game, giving it its own unique appeal already, and its combination of SF and Final Fantasy Tactics should ensure this becomes one of the most popular Shining fangames around.

I’ll be interviewing Lazy Bum mostly about Shining Truth, which has been rather quiet of late [he himself acknowledges he needs a “wake-up call”], but I’ll also be questioning him about his art, sprites and maybe even his rap group, “Kapital Punishment”. If there’s anything you want to know, submit your questions here.

On the whole, I’m most interested in hearing what Lazy has to say for himself, and I hope you are too :) I’ll be posting more news tonight, revealing a little about my third intended “victim”, DevelinTales [and probably Grom too :P]. Keep the faith!

Interviews aplenty!

Dev’s silence was the calm before the storm [actually, Ty and I were on holiday :P], so here I am posting some news, in an attempt to appease our bratwurst-loving leader.

All the projects seem to be making great progress, and all are gaining support and fans – particularly Acebloke’s DSC and Shining Odyssey by Zylokh, although the scene on the whole looks strong. Although there might not be much in the way of “things to do”, with regard to a huge rush of demos, but I think all the projects look very solid, and hugely promising. Good luck everyone, and well done.

Anyway, the main point of this post is for you, the TSS-viewing public, to submit your questions towards three of our finest fangame developers, namely Acebloke, Lazy Bum and DevelinTales [possibly with Grom :P]. I’ll give you a little information about them and their projects, just to whet your appetites.

Acebloke – Dream Shining Character

Ever wanted your own Shining Force character? If you’re here, I’ll warrant the answer is “yes”. Couldn’t be bothered doing a cameo for Shining Online? :P Well, Acebloke has the solution for you – a Shining character creator!

After some tinkering with The Games Factory, Acebloke changed development engine, settling for the online game-creator “BYOND”. Despite a comparatively short development time when compared to the bigger projects, Dream Shining Character already has a loyal following which is growing all the time. You can find out more information by visiting the Official DSC website.

If you have any questions for acebloke about his projects [“Shiming in the Darkness” was a previous game], his ambitions or just general questions, click here.

I’ll be posting again later today/tomorrow with information about Lazy Bum and his work, but in the meantime please send your questions, they are much appreciated :)

Shining Odyssey 0.2 released!

Excuse the late news posting, but Zylokh released a fresh demo of Shining Odyssey! The demo features a bit of plot and exactly one battle. Feel free to try it out!

You can find it here. :)

P.s. while you’re at it, you might want to visit his site too :).

Some noise

I just got back from camp, but I’m going on holiday again in a few hours. Obviously I won’t be posting any project news when I get back, but I might get around to uploading my article on A* pathfinding as well as a few other things.

Enjoy your summer ;)
