Big TSS project update!

It’s good to have an account here again :P I still don’t have a proper job around the place, so I’m just doing general odds and ends, including this mammoth of a task.

I’ve lost track of the number and status of too many of the Shining style fangames recently, so I’m going to endeavour to start contacting as many of the Shining developers as I can to find out what’s going on.

If you’re a fangame developer with something to show for it, keep an eye on your inbox for word from me. Let me know how your project is going and I’ll post news about it on the main TSS page, so Shining Force fans the world over can find out more about your game.

Various news

First of all, I added Shining Force: The Awakening to the project list. It was about bloody time I did that :P

Second, for the first time known in the Shining Gaming Scene, a small scandal. Recently I’ve been posting about Mitch’s Shining Collectible Card Game project, but it has come to my attention that there might possibly be some unauthorized and uncredited rippage in this project! I’m currently investigating whether this is truly the case, but I’ll keep you posted on it!

More info on that can be found at here.

Finally, Newts has decided to compile a list of ALL projects and their current progress. We’ve just been naming every Shining Project and it turns out that there are over 20(!) Shining Style Projects these days!

Back when this site started in 2000, there were only 3 projects, so I guess this site has had a little use ;).

Shining Odyssey added

I added Zylokh’s Shining Odyssey project to the project list along with his latest demo (which dates back to December 2003).

After this release he did some reworking of the game graphics, but Zylokh expects to resume full progress during this summer.

Meanwhile: enjoy this release! :)

Shining Flash Newsflash!

Job is well on his way with his new Shining Flash site, and is focussing on the development of his game once more!

The new site has many cool features, like access to three different Shining Flash Demo’s, but also the resurrection of Penn Pong! Also, the display is shorthand Shining Source News is rather nifty (seems like Ty did right by giving this site some xml functionality :D)

Anyway, go check his masterpiece out at http://vibrid.brinkster.net/shining/ :)

Heaps of stuff from DeathsGate

I received two e-mails from Mitch, containing some very interesting stuff!

First of all he did a remake of his site Death’s Gate to make the Shining stuff more accessible

In addition to that, he uploaded a “Trailer” (talking about a first!) of his Shining Project, which you can find here

But there’s more:

“I just started working on another project, the shining in the darkness type of game and i even have a reeaaally simple movement demo to show that it will be like the original. But it’s a sign of things to come. The program is going to load one main file which contains all of the dungeon information therefore I can make this game – completely customizeable.

people will be able to create they’re own game!”

The download is posted at http://www.deathsgate.com/sid.html.
