Most recent update or newsworthy happening
Began implementing the GBA Shining Force graphics, although it’s about halfway through. Most of the bugs are now ironed-out, and soon there should be new towns and dungeons.

Tomorrow I’ll be reporting on Nick’s famous Legend of Atlantis project. See you then!

SF:TA update

We only just added this to the projects page, but from the sounds of bEn’s email it’s already one of the biggest fangame projects out there.

Project title: Shining Force: The Awakening

Website: Website or Forum

Development team:

Develin (bEn) – programmer
Grom – story/music/design
Produn – artist/story/design
Cortez – programmer
Norrin Radd – music
Lazy Bum (he gets everywhere! – Newts) – music
Jade – various
Isandier – programmer

Development language: C++, with some unique scripting and graphic languages

Most recent release: The SF:TA Christmas Demo

Most recent update/newsworthy happening:

The [sf:ta] HQQuote contest will return shortly – after a successful start we had to hold it as our lead artist Produn was suffering from a severe illness. Nevertheless he is getting better so we will be able to go on asap. Next to that we will be able to update our site again then to add the maps Produn created shortly before his illness and also some great music tracks will follow.
After being promoted to a full member (tho he still doesn’t know that) Cortez is motivated to give the programming team a kickstart.
Our latest addtion Isandir is ready for action after his exams and will hopefully be an addition to our team.
The game is on and you can expect a major jumpstart from [sf:ta] during the next weeks.

Other comments: Keep on Shining!

Whew! A fairly large update on SF:TA, as you can see. By the sounds of it, they’ve amassed a large team of talented and motivated individuals, which as we all know is an almost impossible thing to come by :P Good luck to the team!

Tomorrow there’ll be an update on everyone’s favourite BYOND game, Dream Shining Character. Stay tuned!

I’ll be posting another project update every day, so if you’ve ever thought “what happened to…?” then keep an eye on the main site!

Big TSS project update!

It’s good to have an account here again :P I still don’t have a proper job around the place, so I’m just doing general odds and ends, including this mammoth of a task.

I’ve lost track of the number and status of too many of the Shining style fangames recently, so I’m going to endeavour to start contacting as many of the Shining developers as I can to find out what’s going on.

If you’re a fangame developer with something to show for it, keep an eye on your inbox for word from me. Let me know how your project is going and I’ll post news about it on the main TSS page, so Shining Force fans the world over can find out more about your game.

Various news

First of all, I added Shining Force: The Awakening to the project list. It was about bloody time I did that :P

Second, for the first time known in the Shining Gaming Scene, a small scandal. Recently I’ve been posting about Mitch’s Shining Collectible Card Game project, but it has come to my attention that there might possibly be some unauthorized and uncredited rippage in this project! I’m currently investigating whether this is truly the case, but I’ll keep you posted on it!

More info on that can be found at here.

Finally, Newts has decided to compile a list of ALL projects and their current progress. We’ve just been naming every Shining Project and it turns out that there are over 20(!) Shining Style Projects these days!

Back when this site started in 2000, there were only 3 projects, so I guess this site has had a little use ;).
