Hi all!
Despite my huge bouts of procrastination these days, I managed to add two fresh projects. :)
Much info about them is still lacking, but hopefully that’ll be added soon :).
Feel free to check them out (and their sites!).
On a side-note, as the amount of functionality is slowly increasing due to Ty’s hard work, I think it’s a good time to allow others access to the newsposting pages as well :). If any of the project people would like access as a news poster to the main site, please tell me on the Shining Source Discussion Forum, and I’ll add & inform you :).
It’s not proper, SF-related news because, to be honest, there isn’t much of that about at the minute. What it is is a fantastically entertaining piece of music, co-written by myself and Edgey from the forums. It’s the theme tune to a brand new superhero, Beeman! Download it here, and let us know what you think right here.
Enjoy the song!
Of course all the project stuff is nice, but I almost forgot about the very most important revelation of the past weeks!
Edgemaster discovered our long lost bouncy ball in a distant galaxy several light years away using exceedingly advanced technology.

IkitClaw released v1.3 to the Tatakai beta testers. Here’s the accompanying message. :)
Tatakai test release v1.3 has just been uploaded and testers have been notified.
Amongst other things, the new Tatakai has :
- experience for friendly magic – an overlooked feature has been added
- attack action always default selection – avoids accidental stay orders
- individual hero, monster and item SFX
- more flexible image definitions
- introduced town files making each town specific
- variable levels of monster AI
The structure of the resource files has been reworked, and individual town files have been added. I’m currently working on a richer town customisation, allowing shop stock to be set, and eventually have town walkabouts too !
Issues concerning display settings and changes still persist – I need to learn more about the variations behind DirectDraw…
If you want access to the beta as well, feel free to check out the Project page for more info :).
Edit: The Tatakai site has had an update as well. Feel free to check it out at http://kyonshi.co.uk/tatakai/
